Bipod suggestions

Postby SSBotanyBay on Fri Aug 10, 2012 7:45 am

I have been looking for a bipod for my wife's target rifle (.22) but cannot manage to settle on a good solution. I have read and heard elsewhere that Harris is the only way to go in terms of bipods, while still others insist that you can get a quality product for much less money. What do you all prefer?

After trying to figure out what would work best for her applications, I think a 6-9" would work best ( :rotf: ) and I can't really see a use for a swivel function though the ability to rotate ala http://www.harrisbipods.com/RBA.html would be nice but I don't want to, nor could I, mount a picatinny rail on the laminated stock. Any solutions?

The target rifle in question:

What's your budget? I like Bobro and Atlas.

I have 3 Harris Bi-pods and love them. The length will depend on what you are going to do with them. For a bench get the shorty no swivel. Shooting sitting kneeeling or prone in grass or uneaven ground get a longer model with the swivel. Have her sit/lay/kneel in whatever shooting positon and measure the height. The longest Harris is to big for me and I am 5'10". I ended up cutting it down to match one of the shorter models I have.

Cabela's rogers has a caldwell cheapy 6-9" swivel for $36 in the bargain cave. I hope it's decent, I bought the other one they had. :)

I really like my Atlas, but it's not really the most affordable option.

Prior to getting the Atlas, I had a UTG 6-9" that I got from Cheaper Than Dirt for around $20. It worked perfectly for a year or so on a .308, and it now resides on my .22 - might be worth a look.
