I have just placed an order for a new car, which means in six to eight weeks, my ZX2 Escort will need a new home.
It has 183K and when it's available a little more. New exhaust from the block to the Muffler last year. New brakes, rotors, drums, pads & Parking Br Cables, last month. Tires have abour 12k on them.
A well used but well maintained car, a good runner, perfecr first car for a Highschooler.

a bit of looking shows it gets great mileage, how are the costs of maintenance? How does it handle in winter? Extras like AC and a radio?

It gets a little over 30 to the gallon, with good tires it handles Minnesota winters with ease. The car has AC, leather seats, radio/cassette and alarm.
Maintenance has been mostly consumables, brakes, clutch, Exhaust, filters, oil etc. I did have the cylinder head gasket replaced because there was a leak from the water jacket down the side of the block. No internal leaks into the block.

I don't remember exactly, but I've had it changed twice, last time was about 2 years ago when the cylinder head gasket was changed, so a guess would be about 25 to 30 K
