They should just carry .357 Coonans or .50AE Desert Eagles and give up on the wimpy .45ACP.

If you're shooting at a motivated target, and you don't hit vitals, that target will just keep coming.

No @#$%? I hear the same thing happens if you miss them too.

And the 1911's that the USMC is testing are eating themsleves alive - There is a significant chance that this contract action will be cancelled.

The guy is absolutely right - Modern 1911's are not what they used to be - Sorry.

If they just went to Colt and Springfield with the original specs and said, "build THIS again," it would've been better.

This is because they didn't machine them to spec. They didn't use round end mills on the corners, and therefore instigated a high K value feature ripe for crack propagation right off the bat. **** machining 101. Nothing to do with the platform itself.

Like I said modern guns in 1911 format are not what they used to be. Original guns are solid new ones tend to suck. The Video of the guy everone loves to hate is basically right on the Money...

The 1911 is a hell of a gun no doubt. It is interesting Uncle Bernie once told me "A 1911 is like a hard on - if you want to keep it - dont fool with it...."

Yes, you are right. A 1911 in the hands of person from today's culture of "Ready Made" "Zero Maintenance" machines is a disaster waiting to happen.

Where else would a person see a piece of engineering genius rendered inoperable than a place where firearm instructors are teaching people to shoot and defend themselves with a tool that they just recently discovered and owned for the first time. They take it out of the box and rack the slide a couple of times then head to the range or the training course, totally clueless that they are carrying a tool that works in a state of metal on metal friction that requires proper lubrication and in many cases proper breakin. These people should be buying the plastic on metal guns that will run on six drops of oil and have a trigger break that is like pulling a rubber band back until it snaps away from your finger.

Never mind that a 1911 can be made to shoot more accurately that any Glock could ever hope to achieve; or be made to work as flawless by reducing the tightness and accuracy to a Glock's level. Let's just claim our "Shake and Bake" pistol is superior because it goes bang when you pull the trigger and warn the user to never shoot reloads in the gun because they designed the "Shake and Bake" pistol with a chamber that does not fully support or encapsulate the rounds that you are shooting through it. Oh yeah...Don't you dare shoot lead bullets through this "Perfect Pistol."

You will have to excuse me while I call BS. I do love good guns. I appreciate what Glocks do for the Shooting Community. I do love the feel, appearance and function of a well built and maintained 1911. The only gun I have ever owned that never failed to feed or eject was a Sig 228. Was it as accurate as I wanted it to be....no. But I could shoot it for weeks with out cleaning it and it would function. Do I ever let one of my guns go for weeks without cleaning and lubrication....hell no.

Is my ego tied to any of my Springfields, Kimbers, Sigs, Rugers...Hell no. I know how to care for these tools and realize that they may fail, mechanically or the ammo may not function properly. If it happens in a gun fight...Sucks to Be Me...But I have an edge that is based on knowledge, experience and training that increases my odds of that not happening when it counts. Do you think the Shake and Bake Culture has that Edge?

Ok, Rant off...just been letting this one slow cook in me all day.
