44 Rossi Ranch Hand.

Bought a 44 Ranch Hand last Friday @ Gander Mtn. Brought home and cleaned up. Tried to cycle some 44 rounds and wound't load. Also the cartridge carrier wound't release the next cartridge. I took it to Alhmans on Monday to fix it. They called Thursday and said the receiver needs to be replaced, so sending to factory for repair. We'll see how many months this will take. Should have bought a Henry.

That's disappointing, was this new or used? How come you just didn't return it to GM?

Oh no...Please do not tell me you are the gentlemen that I talked to for at least 45 minutes in store? I am sorry to hear you are having troubles with it, I really hope that it will be fixed and shooting soon. Maybe it didn't feel as smooth as we thought after all? Regardless, it's a neat handgun and I hope everything gets fixed in a timely manner.

From what I heard Rossi is now part of Taurus USA. Their customer service is pretty good. Hope your experience goes smoothly.

Okay - I am stumped. You buy something from Gouger Mountain, so you paid a premium over getting it from someplace else, it didn't work, and you didn't take it back immediately?? And now it's off to get a new receiver, which you may or may not have to pay for, and regardless of that, once it's worked on by somebody else you have totally releived Gander Molehill of the responsibility to take it back. What were you thinking??

Yes dtapper2 I am the gentleman that you talked to. The gun was new and I was told that all sales are final. It will be fixed under warrantee! The gun is new and unfired. Time will tell. I'll be going to the southwest for 6 months so that should be enough time to get it repair or replaced. This is the second new unfired gun I've had to send back to factory. The first was a new S&W 325pd. The barrel was loose inside the barrel shroud. It came back perfect. Now that I think about it, I also bought that at Gander Mtn. Wish me luck.

Did you bother calling the store you bought it with and explain the problem to see if they's help? If so, and Gander wasn't willing to stand behind it, that would be just one more reason on top of the dozens of others not to shop there.

If not, that probably would have been a smart first move.

Yep. I owned a Rossi and luckily I sold it before I could shoot it; the cylinder wouldn't rotate properly and the guy I sold it to had hot brass fly at his face. The quality control at Rossi is atrocious. I just posted this on another thread too because they are garbage.

Bought a 44 Ranch Hand

What the heck for? They have these at the LGS, and I cannot think of any practical reason for owning one. It is neither a rifle, nor a handgun. Must be something for the cat who has everything. It is kinda cute tho

And I agree with the consensus, Honker Hill is no place to shop for guns.
