It was obvious from reports that everyone knew he owned a firearm, so if they had concerns they should alert someone.

I haven't followed the "after" stuff.

This is a tragic event and I'm not sure if this should go in here or be a different subject, but I heard an interesting statistic on the radio the other day:

Nationally workplace homicides have been falling for more than a decade. In 1997 there were 860 workplace homicides in the United States. Last year there were 458, according to a preliminary tally by the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

Naturally there are more factors than anyone can fully take into account, but I do believe with more people owning and carrying firearms now than before and the number of workplace homicides on the decline it would be hard to build a statistically-sound argument that suggests carry laws increase workplace homicides.
