Or get a Burner app for your phone when you sell guns

Nah, I've done that to a buddy before and the guys calling will flag it really quickly if it's not legit. You're better off putting an ad for a big LCD tv at a really crazy price. Their phone will explode.

Thanks for the tip on the burner app, I think I'm going to buy into that next time. It's a bit pricy for an app but when you consider the service it seems fair.

You could try selling it here instead? ;)

Shameless plug aside, I would call the ATF and tell them about this gentleman trying to complete a straw sale

I'm still not quite grasping what this guy did that was so "suspicious" that you needed to post his phone number and text conversation on the internet.

(insert number here) chan works pretty well for getting someones phone spammed... make a post about "x controversial thing" and their phone will blow up.

(I refuse to post the number due to the fact that it would probably trigger said idiots to spam this forum...)

hmmm... All hot for the sale, ptp/ptc demanded, suddenly cold feet and a "friend" who has a permit will buy it for him. Certainly could be legit but it would raise my eyebrows for sure.

always trust your instincts. if his "friend" can buy it, he should have his "friend" contact you to complete the sale. Whatever they do beyond that doesn't involve you. You completed a legal transaction that fits your criteria for comfort.

The buyer got cold feet? Seemed like he was hot to trot. Certainly nothing was done that warrants his phone number be posted online, or asking "anything I can do"?, as in....what? Call the cops? Either do the sale or don't, not much worth discussing really. Certainly nothing that would deem the potential buyer an "idiot" or even a borderline law breaker.

Acting indignant and entitled that I wouldn't sell him my property is pretty idiotic in my book. I think he also displayed shady behavior as well.

There's another way to look at this, but I would definitely go with your gut feeling.

The other (conspiracy) way to look at this is it could be a "news" reporter creating a story that supports the anti's view of straw purchases. Think about it, you ask for a PTP or PTC, and they instantly respond they have a friend that has one that can then buy the gun for them. I could see the story line now "Man sells gun to friend with permit, knowing friend is buying it for someone without permit, who knows if the other is a felon or not. Story and hidden camera film at 10." That's all the anti's need, more ammunition for their "gun show loophole".
