New 1911 Grips (again)

Postby Stradawhovious on Mon Jun 30, 2008 9:38 pm

Now that I've tooled up, I'm going to start making grips again, here are my latest, unfortunately the lighting doesn't do them justice. Damn...... These are fun to make :D :D I'm going to have to buy more 1911s!!

Do you make grips for guns other than 1911? If so, can you do customs?

For now, just 1911's, but I am on a wild hunt to acquire as much REALLY cool wood as possible, and have some great ideas for panels. Today I went out and bought a big hunk of spalted tamarind, and am picking up some burled maple, and trying to get a line on some amboyna. If anyone here has always wanted custom grips, let me know :D PM me and we can work something out.

Allright, I won't post any more after this (for a while anyways ;) ), but I'm especially proud of these......This is the spalted tamarind I got today. These turned out better than I expected :D :D

Very Cool!!! Have you tried any Boxelder, Juniper, Elm or Oak? I know that there are some good samples only as far as my Father's woodpile! Let me know if you want to get together to explore, I know we could find some fun, funky burls to play with. Tom

Oh yeah, I am somewhat of a wood junkie and a good burl is better than sex. Shoot me a PM, and we'll set something up. :D

When are you going to start taking orders and set up a joint venture with Srigs?

When do I start taking orders? As soon as I figure out a resonable market price. When do Srigs and I join forces? If that were to happen, our combined genius would dominate the earth. I'm not sure that I'm ready for that kind of responsibility
