Looking for a FDE forearm

Postby Muddy41 on Sat Oct 27, 2012 8:53 pm

I am looking for an already colored FDE forearm...Need a long one fore sure...I am covering up a 18" barrel and would like to get something between 13"-15"...

I have seen the ones at Troys...But I am seeking to see if any others out there have them prebuilt in FDE....Not a huge issue as I know I can have it painted but if it is already painted it will save me some cash.....

So if you know where I can find other places that have them please let me know...I have tried a chunk of the popular sites but found noting I am interested in...

I would like to have the Arm set up with at least 4 rails....I see the are making some that come with 8 that would be kinda nice as well....

Let me know what you know...

I think Yankee hill machine has one. Go to midway USA.
Some say that he lives in a tree, and that his sweat can be used to clean precious metals... all we know is, he's called the Stig.

Why is it that you do not want the Troy rail? All the prices are similar or higher in comparison.

Here's another company I use, but I usually buy AK stuff from MI:

MI makes some excellent items.

FDE is the new "black" in black rifles. 8-) There were dozens of FDE forearms at the gun show this weekend.

Nice rifle GFH...I have seen a forearm just like yours last week at Atomic Tactical...But the color was to far off for me and I am thinking of a quad rail...

The one at Midwest is really nice and is within the length that I am looking for...As for the color in the pic it looks very close to the same as my Magpul stock and grip!!!

I am going to keep on looking but as of right now I am leaning towards the Midwest one...Unless of coarse AT can get me a better price..THe guys there are great to work with...

Keep the info coming please

I am going to search google out for a 8 rail forearm that I heard about...If they make that in FDE and the price is within reason that would be sweet as well...Allows me to add sites at an angle so I can have multi options for sites and lights on my rifle!!!!! The kids want as many whistles and bells as I can afford...I told them to start making money so we can add more!!!!!

I wasn't expecting the forearm to not really match the handgrip and stock, but I like it anyway. that's what I get for going with three different companies for FDE products

That is the proble I have seen out there....Which is kinda strange....You would think that all FDE would be of the same nature but I gues not...From what pics show the one from Midwest Ind looks like it might be closer....Not sure....

Which is why I might end up just buying black and painting it as well as painting the lower and upper receivers....Then leave my DPMS 18" barrel black..ALthough I am also leaning towards painting that as well...Have not made up my mind yet

By the GFH thanks for the sites....Looking forward to adding them to my build once it is done...I just need a few things and then I am ready to start building..Need forearm, upper and Nickel boron bolt ...Just some minor things!!!!

You could try and dye the lighter parts to match the darker ones, and then paint the metal parts that aren't dyable.

No problem lol. My stock is a Rock River Operator. one of these days I am gonna get the ambition to send it down to Consumate to get it all cerekoted in FDE or MARPAT woodland

The midwest SS Gen 2 FDE is not real close to Magpul. I have two of them in black on rifle length and one mid length. I have the rifle length on a 20 inch barrel and it looks and works great. You can add rails to all four sides if you like. They just screw on. I prefer not to have a rail on the bottom where I put my hand. With rail covers it is a little too large for my taste so I go top rail only. They also come with a bipod stud and hole at the end of the forearm.
