Gen 4 Glocks

I have been reading about erratic ejection patterns out of the gen 4 glocks mainly the 17 and 19. I guess owners are getting hit in the face with spent casings. Im wondering if anyone has had this problem and/ or if glock has fixed it yet. Thanks

I have a couple gen 4 glocks now and have owned a few others, all 9mm. One of my gen 4s (17) will rarely eject straight up, but never towards me. I do not see this as an issue as it does not interfere with the function of the gun after about 1,000 rounds.

Yes, it's a problem with the Gen 4's and the last year or two of the Gen 3's. Some of the early issues with the Gen 4's revolved around the recoil springs, but those have mostly been fixed. Ejection problems, however, persist in a fairly large number of Glocks and they may appear right out of the box, like mine, or they may show up after 1000-2000 rounds. There have been problems with the extractor and the ejector that are contributing. There are some aftermarket extractors that will improve or cure the BTF issue (brass-to-face), notably the one from Apex Tactical. Their current version reportedly fixes the problem on recalcitrant Gen4's, but not so much on the Gen 3's. Apex does have a different extractor in prototype specific to the Gen 3's and that looks promising according to Randy Lee. We'll see.

I have a Gen 3 made in April of 2012. See the video below. I'm waiting on a new extractor from Apex when the Gen 3 version comes out in the next week or two, but my final solution is to just get rid of the thing. I picked up a Walther PPQ. That is a very slick pistol and a completely worthy, actually better, Glock replacement. With that gun I have no need of dealing with my unreliable Glock 19.

Yourself, Glocks are extremely simple.

There are a few on the board. If you you run into problems I'm sure they will pop up.

I ran into the problem with my Gen 4 G23. I would get some brass to the forehead and didn't notice it if I wore a hat. at around the 1000 round mark, I started having multiple FTE/stovepipe malfunctions, I also noticed that the ejected casing had a pretty significant dent in them. I only used WWB so I thought that might have been the problem; I also heard about the new ejector cure. I ordered a new ejector housing from midway that came with the updated ejector the old ejector was stamped 1882 while the new one was stamped 28926. I put the new ejector housing in and the problem was solved. I rand a couple hundred rounds of WWB through and experienced no FTE/Stovepipes, casing are not dented, and I have not had a single piece of brass to the forehead. I have since stopped using WWB because I have found that there is better ammo for the sale price if not cheaper since WWB went up in price.

I recently bought a Gen 4 G19 and have put around 550 rounds through it without a hiccup. I also made sure to check before I bought it to see if it had a new ejector in it and it did. the old 9mm ejector I believe was stamped 336 and the updated one is stamped 30274.

I have also read that Glock redesigned the extractor making a slanted cut. I have read that this has been thought to cause issues as well, but I never really looked to far into it since the new ejector fixed my problems in my G23.

I would check to see if you have the new ejector and go from there.

When it ejects in my face, I find it annoying. It wasn't hard to find a pistol that I shoot as well, and doesn't. If this Apex miracle extractor fixes it, I might keep it around. If not, I'll bet one of you he-men with A-cups will take it off my hands.
