What do we need to fear with the new MN Legislature

Postby Fluid Power on Wed Nov 07, 2012 5:53 pm

With the new Democratically controlled MN Legislature and our special Gov. what do we need to fear with gun control, repeal of CCW, or Assault weapons bans??? Will Minnesota become the next California?? Is there anything we can do at this point??

More Spending, Increased Taxes, More Spending, Increased Taxes, More Spending, Increased Taxes ..........

(The order of the above may be reversed.)

Resonable Gun Control (ie. $25 tax on firearm sales as Cook County, Ill just passed).

I do believe several gun control measures will be introduced. I think (hope) they won't go far. But I was really wrong on this election, so I don't put much faith in my projections.

Gun control is not the same thing as it was in the 90s. Politicians, both republican and democrats, want to keep their jobs. They know that pressing gun control will endanger their jobs. Gun control is political suicide. Just relax and stop fearmongering.

It's times like these, I wish I could read basically the same thread, originally posted in '92!

Could be, there'll be nothin' to worry 'bout ... could be, there will ... IMO, anyone who says there definitely will, 'er won't, is either naive, 'er a liar!

Ultimately, I'd say, so long as the other side don't manage to convince too many gun owners that the NRA ain't workin' in their best interests, we'll be ok! :yippee:

... '94 - '04, not withstanding! ;)

My fear is another person nutz out and shoots up a movie theater, mall or work place. That along with all the other high profile events in the last couple years will cause the media to go crazy and push our new leaders overloads to pass new legislation we might not like and would be anti 2A. We are not that far from Chicago after all.

That's certainly a valid concern! ... remarkably, politicians have been most quiet, the last few years ... I thought fer sure the Gifford shooting was gonna get us a new AWB! ... 'er at least a mag ban! ... and then the Aurora shooting! ... nothing! Image

I don't know that I'd go so far as to compare us to Chicago! :?

I'd say more like Kalifornia! ... in fact, I'd be very surprised if someone don't at least propose more 'er less the same deal! ... as to whether it can make it all the way to Crazy Eyes' desk?! ...
