Saying hello from Willmar

Postby Profitz on Tue Nov 13, 2012 4:30 pm

Hello everyone; I am a new member from the Willmar area. I have spent my entire career driving trucks. I have been in all 48 continental United States and four Canadian provinces over the last fourteen years. I was born here in Willmar and after all the places I have been, I am finally back home.
Guns, while growing up, were as commonplace as forks and knives. I learned to shoot with my dad's .22 and soon fell in love with black powder. I have owned only a handful of guns including both a flint lock and a cap-n-ball rifle as well as a bolt-action Marlin .22 of my own. I love Mossberg, I have had three shotguns and all of them were Mossbergs.
A few years ago my home was robbed and everything was taken.. TV, stereo, thousands in cash that I had saved, my rifle/shotgun collection, both handguns, almost 100 "collectors" knives, and my Japanese Katana all disappeared. I have only replaced my Beretta PX4 Storm (my ccw) and my Mossberg 12 gauge so far. Once I can afford it, I am planning to buy the Savage F/TR .308 which, from everything I have read, is a tack shooter. Eventually, I want to build my own benchrest .308 with a Stiller Action and polished stainless barrel. However, for the moment, I would like to say hello...

Welcome. I live in the cities but my wife is originally from the Wilmar area. Her folks still live in Kandyiohi. We get out that way when we can. Nice area.

Welcome aboard from just west of you...... over in Morris that is. Once you get that F/TR, pretty sure we're the closest place you can take that thing out and let it stretch it's legs. Our range is out to 400 yards. We also host monthly action pistol matches if that's something you might be interested in.

Welcome.

Bummer about the robbery. Hope insurance covered it.

When my kids were in high school I took them to Wilmar a few times for Sonshine. Great festival.
