I just don't understand why people are afraid of condition 1 carry...

Reminds me of the Spetsnaz Makarov holsters... But still Condition 1 is your friend.

I'm the only one here that thinks it is more risky racking a gun pointed at your foot or leg than just keepin it loaded?

Doesn't that also increase the risk of a FTF since the slide can only go forward as fast as your drawstroke?

And on an unrelated note: the gods of wifi smiled on my with a connection interruption at just the rihht spot in that video.

I have a question regarding Condition 1 carry......

So in the case of the .45ACP, which I've heard isn't a good round to cycle in and out of the chamber, how does one handle that?

One way I can think of is that you can always leave it loaded in Condition 1, go to the range, fire off the one round, load your target ammo, fire that off, clean the gun and then chamber another hollowpoint, but eventually you'll run out of hollowpoints doing that. I know you need to cycle your defense ammo anyway, but I'd rather just do that once a year and shoot it all off and buy new stuff. Is there a better way?

Likewise, sometimes I don't go to the range, but I just want to clean the gun. I also don't want to keep re-chambering the same round, so what do I do in that case? I agree that carrying locked and loaded / Condition 1 is the way to go, but I also don't want to waste money on hollowpoints or re-chamber rounds.

Thoughts?

I just eject and keep rotating the top two rounds in my carry mag until the copper starts to become tarnished. Then I shoot and replace the top two rounds and call it good. It's usually every 2-2.5 months or so, when shooting around twice a week. I've never had a FTF or FTE when firing the top two rounds.

If you go more than a couple months cycling them in and out of the gun you might eventually have a FTE, but even manually ejecting a round a couple dozen times shouldn't hurt it. Just make sure to chamber a round from the magazine by racking the slide. If you manually chamber a round and drop the slide on it the extractor will be putting additional wear on the cartridge, and could lead to FTE malfunctions.
