Looking for forend mount flashlight

Postby lucycan on Tue Dec 04, 2012 4:56 pm

Just got my Tri Rail equipped Mossberg 500. Looking for a decent flashlight that I can mount to it.

Open to suggestions!

Maybe something like this? http://www.midwayusa.com/product/417216 ... k-anodized

The X300 is an awesome light. I would also check out this light:

Also, what do you recommend for a remote switch? Looks like this might work for me:

Man this light will end up costing me more than 1/2 the price of the shotgun! :o

if you wanna do it cheap, i'm sure UTG makes something that'll break, guaranteed. also, you bought an inexpensive shotgun, how much did you think the light would run? personally, i'd spend closer to 100% of the cost of your gun. i'm looking at a Surefire X300 to put on my AR, those babies run $200 plus the switch that'll be another $50 or so. or there's the Surefire M951 as well, that one would be $349 on optics planet with a mount and switch.

Looking for forend mount flashlight

Primary arms has some new flashlights, haven't read a bad review of the light yet. Primary arms service is second to none.

I really like the Inforce light, but hindsight being 20/20 I would but the momentary-only vs. the field-programmable switch model. The field-programmable is complicated to use (it's like my iPad, one button does everything whether you want it to or not).

There are bunch of Surefire 961 series lights on the market too, these are military surplus mostly but you can find them new for the $150 range - they are very nice lights, but a little bulky.

If you want to go a budget route, buy a Surefire G2 and a 1" scope ring, and you're all set. I've got a G2 mounted on a Safariland RLS mount I keep handy and it works great.

Looking for forend mount flashlight

I went with a fenix tk22 and the fenix mount. 650 lumens. I have a few of there lights and they seem pretty nice for the money.

A Surefire G2 in a quality mount could be a budget friendly option for you. Many run them on ARs but the recoil on those is quite a bit different than a shotgun.

Good info here. Thank you.

If I went the G2 route (or any route for that matter) would you suggest a ring mount or putting it on the bottom of my built in forend rail?

I use Armytek Predator XP-G2. This light has a strong spring with a large contact. It is more reliable design for rifle lights. I don't have any complaints.

Does anyone know of a different way to mount a Surefire 961 than the thumbscrew mount it comes with? I have it on the left side (10 o'clock) of my M&P15 carbine on a Magpul fore end, and a short piece of 1913 rail, using the tapeswitch. I'd like to switch it to the right side (2 o'clock) to be able to use my thumb (I'm a lefty), but with the Magpul AFG on the bottom of the fore end, I have to change my grip, since the endcap of the flash isn't far enough forward. I looked at the Thorntail models, and those might work. Any other ideas?

In my opinion, you can use Olight M20, Maglite flashlights because they are really awesome. Or you can get some pistol Led lights by searching over net.
