Anyone have experience with the DB9?

I'm in my final stages of Kel-Tec Fan-Boydom...It carries well but is finicky ....This time next year I'll be carrying the S&W Shield...for $100 more....You have to thank Kel-Tec for blazing the trail on affordable pocket guns.....Ruger's LCP and LC9 are copies of the Kel-Tec design.

I tried to shoot USPSA at Oakdale last summer with it and it revealed it's weaknesses...an improperly machined assembly pin was binding the inside of the slide causing FTF / FTE. I'm determined to get it running right (and learn a little gunsmithing at the same time) but I've got my eyes on the Shield or the Walther PPS.

It's 'common knowledge' that the Kel-Tec PF-9 is 'ammo-sensitive' and by all accounts extremely sensitive to "Limp-Wristing" I wonder if anyone shooting the Shield 9mm can tell us if the Shield has these issues as well ? I'm not hearing that on the interwebs.

Guys, I have a PPS and love it. I know what size it is, what size a shield is (same size but crappier gun), and that's not what i'm looking for.

The diamondback makes the PF9 look like a midsize. That's what I'm looking for, a 9mm in a UBER small package.

I really want the DB9 to work... :cry:

Maybe I have to invent my own damn gun.

The only 9mm that is the size you want and reliable enough to bet your life on is the Rohrbaugh R9. If you would compromise and get a .380 your choices open up considerably. With the 10K psi difference in chamber pressure, it is just really tough to get a 9mm to work well in that size.

It sounds like the Rorhbaugh is what you're looking for...it has .380-ish dimensions...bad news is, new they're close to $900.

I've got a cm9 that works fine for 400 bucks. Don't need a thousand dollar gun to collect pocket lint.

The size difference between a DB9 and a CM9 is considerable.

I concede that. Sure. But one works and one doesn't. In this class of guns its cost vs. Size. Smaller they get, the more they seem to cost to be high quality guns. So I'm saying give a little in size take a little in cost.

I've owned a shield, I still do not get the hype of it. It was damn near the same size of my old G27, just a bit thinner. I'm a 175lb man and CANNOT pocket carry a shield like some say they do. Sold it less than a month after purchasing. Shot many different types of ammo with no FTF/FTE at all, really smooth shooter IMO, just not for me.

Traded the G27 to thunderjohn for the CM9, I can pocket carry it in most pants. My preferred carry method is in a crossbreed mini tuck, however. It pretty much disappears in it and I can barely feel it. Opens up a pocket for a spare mag, also!

Perhaps my post was overlooked ... I have a db9 and love it ... For what it is, it serves its purpose well. Shoot a few boxes through it and toss it in a pocket. Done deal.

I dont like the egonomics. Its too big and the mag release is activated with my grip. Im sure its a quality gun otherwise.

I saw it. What confuses me are these varying reports.

Ive read on db9 message boards that with a mag spring increase the newer serial db9s are better than the old ones.

Dammit, maybe i should just spring for a heizer doubletap. It can't take more than 2 when u are using a .45.
