Just a thought; would it make sense to organize the various conversations in this thread to continue now into other threads?

1. CT School shooting news
2. School shooting (CT etc) prevention (incl mental health)
3. School shooting reaction (CT etc) (citizens, cops, EMTs)
4. School shooting recovery (CT etc) (counseling, etc)
5. School shooting aftermath (CT etc) (changes to security, gun control, etc)
6. School shooting - everything else (CT etc)

WTF. Do we really need 5 threads on the same topic? How exactly does spreading the conversation out across a ton of threads accomplish anything?

Other topics you can start threads on.

Did the shooter have regular bowel movements?
Did he enjoy energy drinks, and the possible link between energy drinks and violence.
Did his mom hug him too much, or too little?

I think the reason I'm feeling like I do, which is really hard to even find words to explain is, I wonder if I had been there with my 18 rnds of 9mm.

COULD I have saved a child or two?

I guess the best explanation of how I feel right now is just plain old GUILT!

Lately I've been lacadasilly (spelling) about carrying my weapon, mostly locked in the safe, This changes EVERYTHING, I'll never be without it...................................

It's going to come down to having an armed officer at every school patrolling the grounds. That's what needs to be done, short of letting teachers carry. Meanwhile, keep posting those "gun free" zone signs everywhere. That way, the wackos know where to go to do the most damage. :angryvillagers:

It happened in Detroit not that long ago.

And again in New Jersey....

Sounds like protocols were not being followed. How the heck does a man "being held" have a firearm? I can understand a man walking in off the street could do this, but doesn't "being held" mean that he was "in custody" and doesn't that mean he was searched for weapons so something like this doesn't happen?

The article pretty clearly states he "grabbed" a gun, meaning he likely disarmed a cop (unless they just leave guns laying around the booking/processing part of that cop shop).

Report I just heard used the term "disarm" a police officer.
