It's already illegal to murder people, I fail to see how more laws will somehow prevent it.
But that doesn't mean that they won't try anyways.

Very simply, I had been asked those very questions, and had no argument against. In addition, if you don't ask, you won't know the reasons why or why not.Ron Burgundy wrote:1. What is your proposal?

My proposal to the mentally ill question revolves specifically around those that should not own or have guns, that their is some way of reporting this so it comes up in the NICS check.

Who will decide who should not own or have guns, and what will the criteria be?

I was speaking about the mentally ill, and that would have to be the individual's Psychiatrist.

Who did I vote for again? Please show me one person I voted for that is discussing gun control. Any one will do. Go ahead, I'll wait.

That's the part of my post that you want to argue about? Look, I don't care who you voted for. Your belief in The DFL's non-interest in gun issues is pretty clear from past posts. If you didn't vote for anyone that is (or will soon be) pushing for new legislation, then good for you. Let me repeat, and I don't think I can stress this enough:
I don't care who you voted for.
Things will almost certainly be changing, and soon.

This is not directed at you personally, but one thing I've learned on this forum is that the general consensus of what's going to happen politically is almost always wrong here. Obama's going to lose in 2012, Voter ID is going to pass easily, after every shooting/murder story in the news talk about new gun control measures right around the corner, etc.... I think it's because most people in this forum live in a bubble, surrounded themselves with like minded people and aren't really in touch with how most American's feel. Gun control advocates are typically people that have been directly affected by gun violence so it's their emotions taking over calling for new gun laws. I think most of us agree that their arguments are NOT the most logical. If you go out in to average America and talk to people, gun control is not an issue that they think is a priority. Just a few months after the Colorado shooting we had an election, and people were polled all across the nation about what issues were important to them. On none of those lists was gun control mentioned. It's economy, deficit, healthcare, etc... It won't be more than two weeks and the media will be 100% focused back on the pro-wrestling like entertainment that our government has become.
