So... looks like a bunch of you are $$ hating hypocrites

so there's a panic on it seems. lot of inflated prices it seems. looks like a bunch of you free market gun loving freedom defenders are flagging posts on armslist as "gouging" and then high fiving each other over on bookface. seen some of it around here in the background too.

hypocrites. pansy ass hypocrite bull crap.

this is the free market at work folks. don't like it? dont' buy it! if someone will pay for it and you got it - sell it! profit is good - at least so it would seem....

bunch of jealous children either pissed off that YOU don't have the goodies to sell off and capitalize on the situation or you're butt hurt that you don't have the toys and now don't have the cash to play the game.

if you love capitalism and bash the commie ********, rippon on obama calling HIM a "socialist" and you flagged an ad today i invite you to remove your cranuim from your rectal cavity and dine on a sumptuous buffet of male gnital organs.

usually i'd say these are my $0.02 but in the spirit of the currrent gun market, there are my $20.00 :P

(and before you start in - i havn't sold one thing yet. not my ads you're flagging. i'm waiting for the full on ban so i can really gouge the hell out of you tactical mall cops! 8-) )
i do what i can, where i'm needed, and i ask so little in return. i'm a true humanitarian fueled by rainbows and whiskey. you should be so lucky to know me...

I think it's funny to watch the prices... some day we'll look back and think, "$240 for two 30 round pmags and no stamp!? Damn - that was cheap, I wish I would have..."

Are the prices ridiculous? Yes.

Do I give a ****? No.

Will I still comment on the insane prices? You're damn right. :P

Whinners and winners - buy low and sell high etc etc - Hold out for the big bucks if your going to sell anything. Buy quickly if you need something.

I looked at ebay a few hours ago. Some really high bids on pmags from sellers offering several identical auctions, with 0 feedback.

I stocked up on pmags before the election got close. probably have 30-40, and didn't pay more than $13 each, shipped... no need to buy, not too interested in selling, either

Can't say that I'm not giving thought to stocking up on parts after prices come down so that when this happens the next time that I'll be the one making bank. This 'price gouging" isn't really anything for than taking advantage of FUD (Fear, Uncertainty and Doubt) about a possible future, so in a way, it's not much different than the stock market because it too runs on speculation. Buy low and sell high. Who would do differently?

No one is putting a gun to anyone's head and forcing them to bid, to buy, or anything else, and with the speed of government, nothing is going to happen quickly anyway, if anything happens at all. I'm not making any rash decisions, but clearly some people out there are. The sellers are raising prices on spec based on FUD, and also the buyers are purchasing on spec and FUD as well:

Sellers: I'd better get as much for XYZ parts as I can before "they" (government, whoever) won't let me (buy or sell) XYZ anymore. I have 1,000 PMAGS so to make up for potential lost sales + a profit, they will sell for ABC amount.
Buyers: I'd better get as much for XYZ parts as I can before "they" (government, whoever) won't let me (buy or sell) XYZ anymore. I NEED 100 PMAGS because the guv'ment is gonna take away all my XYZ!! I NEED THEM NOW!!!!!!!!

Both fear.
Both FUD.
Both speculation.

I'm sitting back for now and watching the storm hoping sanity returns, prices fall, and then I can stock up and win as a seller next time it happens.

I don't have a dog in this fight now, but Shipyard, you are full of it.

A free market involves, well, being free.

This whole mess has been driven by either actual or proposed government regulation. By definition it is not a market driven force.

Remember all the anti monopoly regulation from the early 1900's? Same thing- the market was not free, and the plutocrats were behaving badly. Now the liberal politicians need to be seen "doing something" by their base. Guns are a relatively low hanging fruit and don't adversely impact a majority of the voting public in theory. Saying that someone is a hypocrit because they don't support crony capitalism (defined as picking winners and losers in the market via government fiat) is just plain wrong.

How many folks would have AR style rifles except for our government's little experiment starting in the early 80's-90's when they started yipyapping about gun bans?

As I recall, most military collectors were getting various WWII guns, usually full auto, which were substantially cheaper pre 1986 than now. I suspect without the 1986 ban right now, after the fall of the Soviets, you could buy a full up sturmgewehr 44 for a couple grand now instead of 30-40K. (and other than at the Nuremburg trials, I doubt anyone had any "crimes" performed with a StG 44)

In my opinion, this whole paramilitary market has been driven since day one by gun bans.

Do I think its illegal to do what these folks are doing? No. Is it immoral? I'm not sure, but I think so. If it was gasoline, it would be illegal under our current laws.

XDM,

Didn't you just start a thread looking for a new rifle? Like, immediately after the shooting? :)

Yeah, I did. My timing sucks. Now is the time to SELL, not to buy. I'm actually looking for an AR-15, but it's not critical. I can wait. My next purchase will be extra mags for both my guns along with ammo and reloading gear from the ground up. After that, I'll look into rifles. I'm not so sure about the AR-15 anymore, but I do want a good, mid-range rifle for "if the SHTF" purposes. Once prices come down, I will probably buy a rifle along with whatever I think will be in demand for when this happens again. Maybe it's time to get an FFL.
