NICS

Postby sawgrass on Sat Jan 05, 2013 6:03 pm

It seems like more and more dealers are going to electronic NICS checks.

I'm frequently delayed around lunch time and weekends.

Tonight wasn't any exception and I am one sad girl.

I've been told that the special identification number won't help.

Does anyone have any opinions, thoughts or information regarding NICS.

I've also heard that they are so busy right now, many are delayed and many are simply waiting the three days.

Do you give your SSN? I have never been delayed w/ my SSN on the form. I've been delayed when I've not used it..

I have never been delayed without my SSN.

I did. I've worked in some interesting places and have had a secret security clearance in the past.
Maybe that's the reason. It sure is irritating. A dealer told me once that it might take a supervisor to see my file. IDK.

I had secret clearance while enlisted and that never slowed me down any. I use my SSN all the time and have never been delayed.

Have you ever done more than 5 transfers in a week? That might get you in the "interesting people" pile.

I get delayed with SSN and UPIN both on the paper often. Not always, but often enough at any hours and any days of the week. It doesn't matter because they don't want to check to see why the person being checked was flagged when they are getting hammered with requests. I am not sure how it works, but the special security clearance request flag must not be any different.

I had a great run - no delays in 7 runs... assault weapons, large cap pistols, assault style shotguns... I buy a Rhino revolver - 3 day delay. No rhyme or reason to it.

Well... I hope you have my gun under your pillow tonight. It's the only one like it you know! It was fun standing in your vault looking at it.
It will be very pretty living next to your blued Colt 70 Series. I am so bummed. This game certainly isn't improving my mood any.

Sawgrass is the National PGA headquarters!
I don't know if that's it. I've googled and some Dr. comes up. It isn't me, so that's why I put my SS# on there now.

If they are just too busy, how does the time work?
Is it 72 hours from when it was called in or something else.

It is also interesting to me that some places, if you have a cc permit, you take the gun and go.
I didn't know that until yesterday. I thought everyone had to pass a NICS check.
