I used Blazer aluminum often (too lazy to reload  ), and I think it's still OK. The only ammo restriction they've got is no steel - jacket or case. That may have been a contributing factor that started the fire.

Roger told me they checked incoming ammo, but some people evidently thought it was cute to sneak steel-cased ammo in - they found the cases during cleanup. This ain't funny, folks. I'll DQ anyone using steel-cased or steel-jacked ammo.

How could steel case have started the fire?

I think he is referring to steel jacketed bullets causing problems in the backstop. ;)

Most steel cased ammo also has a mild steel jacket, this can theoretically case a spark when striking something.

While I don't see this as a cause, because many other ranges allow it with the same backstop and have never had a fire, I respect what Roger went through and will be sure not to shoot any steel cased ammo there.

I was just there last night to qualify a student and they have done a great job getting the place back up and running. As always, Roger practically lives there. :D

You aren't kidding. He was blowing the rubber for the South bay backstop Monday. He's putting in long hours to get back to normal.

I originally had the plan of shooting WPA during the matches but I guess that has to change. I'll shoot Federal Champion then I guess..

On a different note, is anyone free tomorrow afternoon after 1:30 to be a little early and want to help me zero in the red dot on my AR?
I'm gonna put less then 30 rounds down range

They're only permitting handguns at the moment (on the North and Rifle Bays). No rifles allowed until the South Bay is up and running.

12 for the Orientation, unless you miss :o or "need" a re-shoot.

So, I'm a little unclear on how orientation goes tonight (I plan on going even though I've done this before) starts at 6, any guess how late it'll run tonight? Do I need to shoot? Are we setting up a stage? Off the top of my head I was thinking something like 1 hour for orientation and maybe another hour if I shoot.

Do you have to shoot? No, but it's for us to learn about how you handle a gun as it is to expose you to what our stages are like.

We'll have a short stage after the classroom session. All of it should be over by 9.
