First Gun Purchase questions

Postby tech17 on Sat Jan 12, 2013 5:21 pm

Hello, I am currently 20 years old but will be 21 in February and was wondering if I can submit my permit to purchase form before I turn 21? To speed up the process since I have to wait 7 days to get my permit. I was also wondering if I am able to purchase 2 handguns at one time or is there some kind of rule against that?
Thanks!

There should bo no problem buying 2 handguns, but i think you will have to wait till you are 21 to file your paperwork.

I'm pretty sure you can apply early - I think I did the same.

You can apply early for a PTP - under 21 year olds need them to buy "scary black rifles", however the PD may write or stamp "no handguns" on it (because some of them seem to think dealers are stupid), at least that's the experience a friend of mine had. YMMV

It would suck to get your permit back and have NO HANDGUNS stamped on. I'd guess it would have something to do with the department you're going through.

Yeah, he had a number of issues with the department he had to go through... including "why do you need a permit to purchase"?

...

I told him he should have said "Because f*** you."
