Walmart suspends ammo sales/orders

Postby whiteox on Mon Jan 14, 2013 3:59 pm

I'd prefer a better source for this story than "a customer standing next to an employee that called in to headquarters".

Not saying it isn't true but it ain't exactly off of a Walmart press release either.

Fair enough, it does sound sort of hard to believe, doesn't it?

Lol, doubt it. Target won't sell anything resembling a gun, including toy gun/cap guns, etc....

Isn't that ironic? I mean Target = target? Maybe they don't sell guns and ammo because they think someone will shoot at their sign? (GRIN)

I never bought a gun there,(I'm told they did sell them) but Target did sell ammo, targets, and various accs. Probably got some .22lr around w/ a Target price tag They did cave to the antis. Circa late 70s-early 80s??

I'm still not sure why this matters. I've never bought ammunition at a Walmart.

Walmart is apparently about 25% of the gun industry. It's also got a hughe share of everything else. In the old days, that much of a market share was considered anti competitive and ultimately bad for consumers. Now we've got them making gun policy, instead of the gunshops. And all they sell are best sellers, they cherry pick the industry with superior buying power.

But I guess we got what we wanted.

Costco should get into ammo.

My guess is Obama is going to try to put the brakes on online ammo sales some how.

Walmart suspends ammo sales/orders

Postby Spinner on Mon Jan 14, 2013 8:47 pm

Just found this. Not exactly a reversal, but here you go.

http://mobile.wnd.com/2013/01/walmart-r ... mmo-story/

My house spends a lot more on non-ammo items than ammo at walmart. Those dollars will be going to another place now.

I posted a comment here once about how once upon a time, you could buy 500 rounds of XM193 for $89.00.

I'm not saying I'm a visionary, because I'm not, but I'm sure glad I laid in 10K rounds during those days.

This

I can get everything I used to get a Wallyworld somewhere else.
I usually bought most of my ammo at Fleet Farm anyways.
