Make an iPhone and Android app and I'll be happy to do background checks on private gun sales, just don't make me pay an FFL to do it every time.

Gotta say that list is not as big bad and scary as I was anticipating. Lots of those are things gun owners have been calling for to prevent criminals from getting guns and causing these issues. Others seem like they are reasonable reporting measures.. as long as they arent keeping a registry. Granted there are reasonable ways some of those could be implemented and others that would be horrible.. the National Safe and Responsible Gun Owners Campaign for example... a 'campaign' could be partnering with existing organizations (NRA) or some new big brother horrible monster.

'What the NRA said'

Well, to be fair they did invite, and apparently, listen to, the NRA.

And I agree, I'm not as upset as I thought I'd be (I'm not even a little upset). I do however realize we still need to continue the fight, this isn't over... we all know an 'assault weapons ban' and magazine limit won't do anything to stop future attacks.

We win. Told you so.

Glad I ordered my 6 13-round mags before this went down. I'm still waiting for delivery though.

I actually watched the conference as well as a great deal of the CSPAN circus beforehand. It amazes me that people still thing the streets are awash with "automatic assault rifles." Then again, some of the "pro gun" callers they took didn't cast a very flattering light on gun owners either. The presser was just like I expected - tug on the heart strings, hold up a few children (to his credit, he only had four kids with him), then push the same old agenda the left has wanted all along.

One thing that bothered me about CSPAN's coverage was the interviewer's constant commenting that "isn't there any room for compromise?" If group A wants no changes at all and group B wants 10 changes, is it really compromise if group B gets five of the ten? What have they given in return?

I would be okay with universal background checks for public & private sellers alike (some states already do this) but there would have to be something in return. I'm thinking about eliminating import restrictions, removing silly compliance issues, backing off on what is considered a "destructive device" (and no longer allowing the ATF to rule by fiat), and eliminating rules for short barrelled rifles & shotguns.

Jest a shot in the dark ... but if I had to guess ... I see no reason why they wouldn't at least wait 'til Congress is done doin' whatever they're gonna do?!

They know anything they pass'll cost 'em votes! ... no reason to risk it, if Congress is gonna do as much, if not more?!

That said, I fail to see how Minneapolis ain't otherwise directly in line behind New York, LA, and Chicago?! :? ... particularly with a Devilcratic Governor, House, and Senate?!

I see no reason to be quite so agreeable! :| ... fer instance, many sales off this board have req'd a DL and PTP/PTC, fer years! ... I fail to see how that ain't effective in "screening qualified buyers"?!

At the least, is it not "reasonable"?! :?

I wonder if some hardcore anti-gunners are screaming right now since there was no call for any type of mandatory registration, confiscation, or background checks on ammunition.
