‘(G) A semiautomatic pistol with a fixed magazine that has the capacity to accept more than 10 rounds.

Who would sell a hi point that was $150 new...when they can get $2000 for it?

If this did pass, I will probably see if I can buy one sub $200 gun on the list per year and turn it in. I'll leave it NIB and put a bow on it.

‘(J) A frame or receiver that is identical to, or based substantially on the frame or receiver of, a firearm described in any of subparagraphs (A) through (I) or (L).

My lowers are going to be worth $2K. Since I paid $60 that would be the best ROI ever recorded. Not to mention this would even cover 10/22's. These people are flat out brain dead.

It's hard to believe that democrats are handing out tax credits for any individual.
Donald Trump got more fat women moving in one day than Michelle Obama did in eight years.

bofe954 hit the nail on the head. This would raise the prices on all firearms within the category allowed, and those on its periphery, by huge margins. It creates a false floor. The exact opposite happened with the horse market when slaughter went away.

ETA: and they know this. That's why it's being floated as an idea.

3% chance of getting past committee.
1% chance of being enacted.

That's what it says for everything. That's the odds of anything passing. That being said, I could see a ban passing before this. The govt doesn't have any money as it is.

I'd bet the plan would be to have this in conjunction with a new AWB - That way, they can eliminate some resistance by putting in a grandfather clause - And then kill grandpa.

Why pay $60 and destroy a lower.

We can pick up Shippy's maytag, cut it into flats and have an AK build party - And we can stop at the receiver!

Too bad it's only one!

You can only turn in one gun per year and get a credit up to $2000, but only HALF of that is credited in the tax year the gun was turned in and the other half the next tax year. You're only getting $1000 credit and you can guarantee that they'll find a way to make it impossible to get. For example, you already turned your gun in to the cops and got your credit slip but you don't qualify because you claimed the interest on your mortgage and according to some hidden sub code you can't take both. Not worth it.

So if a kid can get expelled from school for drawing a picture of a gun, can I get a tax credit for a drawing of one too? I can make it look extra scary. :D
