Paging Seismic Sam...

I didn't get a chance to talk to you at the Gopher, but I was going to ask you about this. I picked up a G20 and was cruising around the Brownell's site the other day and found this :yippee: and I got all sorts of excited

http://www.brownells.com/magazines/handgun-magazines/magazines/50-gi-conversion-system-for-glock--prod27083.aspx

.50 GI kit for the Glock? what say you?

He's spoken about it previously, when the converter first came out. The gist was that the force of the .50GI would shred the Glock frame. Of course the language was much more colorful and there was a page and a half of scientific mumbo jumbo.

Thanks man, that's why I asked about it. I didn't think it would be doing the lower any favors. I'll just load my 10mm the way it's meant to be ;)

Actually, my chief concerns were that the gun would be the most top heavy firearm ever built, and that the recoil would be nasty from all that steel on top of a light plastic frame, and the gun would be FUGLIER than me, Tootsie, and Shippy doing the Full Monty at the Gay 90's amatuer night!! I'm fairly sure that Alex would not create something that would have a short lifespan, so it would probably "work" per se. So yeah, you could do it, and shoot 50GI, but it really would be like putting 20" chrome rims WITH spinners on a brown or olive drab AMC Gremlin. IF nothing else, going from a real Guncrafters trigger and workmanship to a Glock trigger would be like ditching Jennifer Lopez as a girlfriend and dating me instead, complete with my purple spandex troll suit and an overpowering case of Bridge Odor, mixed in with a good amount of EFFEN Gopher Coney Stank.

Without going into the whole 1911 vs Glock thing, and just focusing on the amount of support offered by the barrel of both guns to equivalent Norma factory loads (200 gr. @1200 FPS) THIS is the way 10mm ammo was meant to be shot:

I will admit that Gen 4 barrels are a lot better than Gen 1 or 2 barrels, and the price is certainly right for a 10mm, but for full power max 10mm loads all that steel in the gun helps a lot. Don't forget, the 10mm was the caliber that hurt the wrists of some FBI agents, who then demaned that the 40 Short & Weak be created for their poor widdle wrists... :P

I'd pay a dollar to see that.

You'll need at least $9.99 plus the cover at the bar:

I hear ya man, I am planning on getting a different bbl for mine for the time being. Or even trying that new RIA 10mm if I don't care much for the Glock so I have a 1911/2011 platform to start with. The recoil of a Norma spec load don't scare me in the slightest otherwise.

I kind of want a 50GI carbine type of rifle. I would much rather have some of those CHP bullets in other calibers though. :D

It isn't the recoil that you have to worry about with hot 10mm loads, it's the pressure!

Yeah, this came out of a Glock:

Hence the different barrel.

Yeah, having 45 caliber solid copper JHP's would be cool! As far as the 50GI carbine is concerned, you don't have to limit yourself to something that small:

Would you believe a 50AE AR-15??

They were around for just a short while about 10 years ago, and then the guy making these discovered how to REALLY make money, and that was with the Saiga 12. You might discover a few references on this to the internet, but that's about it.

Mag holds 14 rounds, and that's a Leupold illuminated mil-dot reticle M3 tac scope.

Does GI have a patent on CHP bullets? I can't figure out why else they wouldn't be out on the market for other calibers.
