Any pics from the Capitol rally?

http://www.startribune.com/politics/statelocal/187599291.html is saying 500 people. If you watch the VERY carefully edited video, it's clear they are trying to keep from showing the whole crowd so I figure there were a LOT more. Any field reports?

I'm not very good at estimating crowd size, but my best guess was somewhere between 1000-1500.

Several folks estimated it very close to 2K.

I'm pretty disgusted at the clips the news is using. One of them showing people on the main stairs up to the top and down to the middle flat was taken a full half hour before the organized start time - I know, because I was on it.

Turning around during the speakers was startling as I hadn't looked in a while. The whole area was filled - all the way to the opposite side of the street and behind the cars. People were thick. This was a big turn out, and it's insulting to minimize the truth of the event with claims of "500" and "dozens" of people being there. There were thousands in attendance, and many more supporters who couldn't make it.

No, but to have them using the pre-event footage is a bit low, even for them.

It's like having a stadium concert and then showing sound check as the event footage.

I believe there are some floating out there. I saw a crowd of 14 once represented as "Several dozens"...

I got a chuckle out of the news coverage. They show the gathering of folks out in the cold, and show a few snippets of people saying why they were there - then cut to Heather Martens in front of a fireplace and give her twice the talk time.

What's inportant is that the event happened, and that people showed up at it. That is what the politicos have to figure into their decisions. People turned out because they cared.

Heather can sit at home by a fireplace all she wants. She isn't going to influence people the same way that those who mobilize outdoors in the Minnesota winter can. (I know that it wasn't below zero, but still...)

It's harder to discount those who organize and turn out crowds than it is those who don't. :geek:

It's worth noting that there were similar results throughout the country...
The media, and the antis will always dismiss us, not so the people inside the statehouses...
