I still remember my first day of BRM in basic training when a drill Sgt. held up a magazine and said "everyone that thinks this is an M16 clip raise your hands". Everyone that did got dropped.

Acceptable nomenclature for the thingy that holds cartridges for a Glock is NOT "clip".
An assault rifle is not what most people think it is.

NO DANGIT, GET IT RIGHT!! :wack:

Clips are for hair, chips and M1 Garands. Magazines are for reading and reloading many other guns.

Wheels are the metal thingy the tires stay on, tires are the rubber thingy around the wheels.

Memory is a ability to recall information (human, animal or computer), Storage is something that holds other things for future use.

Boats are things we put on lakes. Ships are very large things we put on very large lakes or oceans (although a few living on Lake Minnetonka don't seem to understand how this works!)

Now you are learned, go and teach it to the masses on the mountain! :ugeek:

That's the point. Clip is proper terminology.

What *is* the difference between a couch, davenport and sofa?

Garage and carports have clear distinctions. The difference between that and clip/magazine is the latter are officially synonyms now in the English language, despite how much you stomp your feet and pout.

unfortunate but Hefs right. Under clip my dictionary says a "cartridge clip" and also called an "ammunition clip" with our definition of a magazine "for rifle or pistol".

I have Merriam Webster on my side. I don't think I'm outgunned or outnumbered.

I do find this fear of change and unwillingness to accept facts comical though. Keep at it.

I find the fear of agreeing with you somewhat overwhelming ;) AND the dictionary is wrong!

If the first words out of your mouth during a discussion on any of the current events are: "It's not a clip its a magazine" -- you've already lost your position. Don't argue semantics when having a discussion with other lay-persons -- you'll lose and look bad doing it.

Terminology debate is for actual legislation...not when discussing guns with your anti-gun neighbor...she doesn't give a rip about clip vs. magazine.
Nothing to see here. Continue swimming.
