Want to go shooting this weekend, can't find .22LR again!

Postby hirdlej on Fri Feb 01, 2013 8:24 am

Well, dumb me, I should have bought more ammo in bulk a few weeks back when I found it. I burned through most of it and I want to take my nephew shooting tomorrow. Does anyone know where some .22LR would be sitting in the bulk packs on a retailers shelf? I'll drive anywhere around the metro if someone can point me in the right direction.

Gander has some every time I'm there, but it's not cheap - it's like $40 (not the typical Federal/Winchester/Remington bulk pack stuff).

Fleet farm has CCI Stinger 50 packs.

I'd offer you a box of mine but the cost of getting here would be more than the ammo is worth.

thunder71, thank you for the kind offer. I'm located in Maple Grove, so the drive would be quite a stretch.

I've had real bad luck with the CCI standard velocity stuff, and in the ruger mark ii, you're not supposed to use "stingers" or you'll beat the takedown pin to death from the added power. (I know right  )

I was hoping to find Federal or Winchester in the 525 or 555 packs for around that $22-ish mark.

I think things have gotten to the point where even if someone told you XYZ Sports had some, by the time you got there it might be gone.
Yesterday morning I got a PM from another member that Sportsman's Warehouse had some Wolf Match 22lr at a reasonable price. Within 30 minutes of that PM being sent, I tried putting some in the online shopping cart, and found out it was out of stock- backordered until June.

If you get a line on some call ahead. Running all over will double or triple the cost of already inflated prices, if you do find it.
Good Luck

You might try calling Scheels in either St. Cloud or Mankato . I've had good luck finding reloading components and they had a fairly decent selection of ammo .

I was at Cabela’s on Wednesday and Gander in Coon Rapids yesterday……..not a box of .22 LR to be had. You could give Dick’s Sporting Goods a phone call…...they may have some bulk Remington or Winchester behind the counter. Good Luck!

Walmart in Lakeville - Cty 70 had Federal auto match in a bulk pack, on Tuesday. Lakeville FF had Stingers and Standard Velocity CCI.

grousemaster, if you're referring to the carver fleet farm. They have absolutely nothing in stock.

I called Dick's in Maple Grove at 0930 this morning. The guy on the phone said they had some CCI and Remington in stock.....he didn't say how much though. Evidently not too many folks purchase .22 ammo there. 8-)
