MN Bill making gun magazines of more than 10 shells illegal.

Postby PaperPuncher on Fri Feb 01, 2013 9:57 am

Fellow Minnesotans: Please spend what may be the best possible use of 3 minutes and read this following Minnesota Bill that is set before the MN House and Senate making gun magazines that hold more than 10 shell capacity, ILLEGAL!!!!! by August 2013.

https://www.revisor.mn.gov/bin/bldbill. ... ssion=ls88

After reading this bill, please spend another 10 min and write your Senator or Congressman or woman, and lets get our voices on file stating how we feel about this bill. I sent a series of letters today and would be happy to post one here for you to copy and paste to your email and all you would need to do is fill in your name and address.

This is ludicrous to think they can race these bills past us and get them made into law...not just that fast but right under our noses!!

Let's have 50 threads on this, or at a minimum, one for each bill.

They sure are wasting a lot of time on bills that have no chance. 10 round limits for clips has no chance of passing.

If there is anything that could get these bills to pass, it's convincing everyone that they needn't bother to speak out against them because they obviously have no chance.

Who cares if it does pass? I've never seen a clip that holds more than ten rounds. Most strippers hold 10, en blocs for a Garand hold 8, I've seen some 5 round clips too.

No, I mean clip. It's a synonym for magazine.

Seriously Heffay? I generally don't mind your trolling, and find it quite humorous.

You are taking a pretty simplistic, head in the sand approach on these bills.

Even if they do not pass or gain solid traction, give me everyone a good reason not to rile the base? There are a fair share of anti-gun legislators in this state. IF the the average gun owner can be reached, why would that be a bad thing?

Could you keep the non relevant pissy discussion private and keep the posts that matter on here?

Oh, I have no problem with everyone calling and making their voices heard. We should be participating in the process. I'm just saying it's not going to pass.

You might mean to use clip, but it's definitely not a synonym for magazine. A clip feeds ammunition into a magazine, whether internal or external, fixed or removable; a magazine, whether internal or external, fixed or removable, feeds ammunition into the action of the firearm.

Using the proper terminology is important, especially when speaking of firearms during panic times like these. Assault rifle, assault weapon, magazine, clip. All these terms mean different things and it's imperative that we use the right words and educate the ignorant so they can get over their misconceptions.

We've already been through this.

http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/clip

: a device to hold cartridges for charging the magazines of some rifles; also : a magazine from which ammunition is fed into the chamber of a firearm

ellis, will you go crap on someone elses thread? THIS IS IMPORTANT and your discussion clearly isn't relevant to this topic.

I'm not trying to crap on this thread. Read what I wrote and tell me why you think it's unimportant and/or irrelevant to this discussion.

Okay, the first post was obviously a joke, but it served the purpose of segueing into my next point.

I'm getting rather sick of this philosophy and mindset. It is precisely what they are counting on - they want gun owners to not participate or shrug it off and say "can't happen."

Need I remind you that.... IT DID. In 1994, at a Federal level. IT DID, in New York just recently. IT HAS, in other states across the nation.

We cannot be complacent and assume it'll never happen.
