So...what are the odds of these bills becoming law?

Postby EagleStorm on Sat Feb 02, 2013 12:53 am

I am usually pretty in-the-know on the national scene, but I'm not sure what to expect for these bills. Given all the Democrats in charge, I'm quite fearful. However, some of the U.S. Senate Dems have recently come out against the AWB, so I'm hopeful for here. Also, would Dayton back down, given 2014 elections around the corner?

I ask this because I've recently been in the market for a semi-automatic rifle, but at this point don't think it's a good idea, since one of the bills assumes "no grandfathering."

Regardless, I will continue to write and call.

I think it's unlikely - but it is going to require a fight to ensure that they don't pass

Pretty much this.

If we all can mobilize and show the legislature that we don't want/don't need these bills - we'll succeed. The march is far from over though. The senate bills have now been introduced as well...

Barry is throwing alot of federal dollars towards MN to do this. The goal is to get the blue states to disarm the citizens and then the federal government will follow with its own legislation.

His security alone probably costs that much.

The average American could buy a house for the amount of money it takes to run Air Force One every hour.
The U.S. military has provided an updated estimate on that cost, first published by a taxpayer watchdog group and confirmed by FoxNews.com, and the number is staggering -- $181,757 per hour. That's the price tag for shuttling around President Obama, who, as it turns out, has spent more days abroad in his first two years than any other president.

Remember all the dems against Obamacare? They were eventually bullied or bribed into going along with it.....don't doubt this president.

Remember the cornhusker kick back? The Bismarck Bribe? The Louisiana purchase?

Roughly:

Prior to a presidential trip, a team of secret service agents scout the location & venue: figure even if they fly commercial, would be a 4 man team ($2,000 for tickets; $600 for hotels; $500 for meals): $3,100 (and that is most likely not even close)
Air Force One costs ~ $179,750 per HOUR to operate (2 hours flight time each way from DC): $719,000. A lot of times, they roll a SECOND presidential plane in case AF1 has issues, but I am assuming here they will not, due to it being a domestic flight, and the short lead time to fly the backup from D.C. (but they WILL be on standby in case AF1 breaks).
Obama never leaves D.C. without "The beast" (his personal rolling fortress) as well as other support vehicles. Minimum vehicles: 2 "beats" (one is a decoy & minor VIPs), 2 com vans, 1 SS SUV, 1 nuke/bio/chem detection van, 1 unit (minimum) counter-terrorist attack team, 1 unit (minimum) countermeasure unit, 2 support vehicles (minimum) for staff/ POTUS doctor/etc, 2 press vans (minimum). Plus local law enforcement running lead, blocking, point, and rear, and an ambulance. However, Obama motorcades are usually at 40-45 vehicles. So assume operating costs of $0.51/mile (what the gov allows for mileage reimbursement, but probably WAY LOW for these rollers): $2,000 just in mileage expense (and only going ~ 40-50 miles round trip)
The support aircraft tagging along can vary wildly. When he went to India in 2010, it was 6 armored cars plus support vehicles and 40 (yes, FOUR ZERO) support aircraft. Figure just to haul around his convoy, you can probably fit 8-10 vehicles in a C-17 Globemaster. Plus, the "beasts" roll alone I believe (for security of course). So squeeze the motorcade into a total of 5 Globemasters. Each one costs $6.960 an hour to operate. So his cargo costs would be $139,200. Not even accounting for fighter escorts here, or if he drags along Marine One (which he usually does).
Assume his entourage is salary, so whether he is here or not, they are on the clock: $0

So just from what is outlined above, that is just a paltry $863,000. And it wasn't everything, and excluded things he usually brings along. Realistically, it is probably more like a mil-5 to get his ass here and back.

Just to put it in perspective: when Barry wanted to do a 30 minute flyover of NYC to impress Michelle "my belle" it cost us $328,835 to do so (according to the Air Force), was AF1 & 2 F-16s, and that involved zero time on ground.

All Hail King Barry!

It's an impressive entourage.
AF1 is the cleanest and shiniest aircraft around, and at night, under all the security lights, there isn't a shadow within 100 yards.
Seeing the motorcade- a dozen black Suburbans, and 3-4 stretch limos rolling down a deserted crosstown or 35W sat 90mph is pretty cool looking, no mater who's riding in the back seat.

IMO you can't count travel expenses as money "spent" on this issue. It's not like they allocated a certain amount from the budget to this particular cause. The money is already designated for travel expenses and such, and IMO the pols don't realize/care to try to save tax dollars on these perks. It just comes with them being better than us.

Pretty much my brain. Yours and others too if they are not clouded.

Why? Prove it, you say. Add 2+2.... It's no freaking coincidence that BHO is coming to MN the week the House/Senate conferences are going on to talk about gun control.

Now think about it. Do you need anything more than a brain to figure this one out? I don't need a source from somewhere to tell me this is stinky all the way up.

Doesn't matter whom you like, this is the gun grabbers making hay while they can.
