What cartridge would you like to see reintroduced?

Postby ijosef on Sun Feb 03, 2013 11:48 pm

This is just a fun little hypothetical thread. If you could wave a magic wand and have an old, long discontinued cartridge come back to life (or a rare cartridge come back from the brink of obsolescence) and be widely chambered, available and affordable, what would you choose?

Just for kicks I'd say the Civil War era .44 Henry rimfire. You could buy it in bulk packs like you do .22LR right now and use it in big bore versions of the common rimfire platforms out there. It would be a fun short range plinking cartridge, like .22LR on crack. Imagine taking out tin cans with a .44cal, 200 grain bullet lazily lobbed from your new Ruger 10/44HR rifle.

If I had to choose one, I'd like to see a lot more 7.7 Jap. A very close second would be 7.62x25.

+1 for 7.62x25

Wider availability of .30-40 Krag...only current retail offering is Remington Core-Lokt at $30/box or better. There's online options, but not as widely available.
Nothing to see here. Continue swimming.

That would be nice to see. A federal fusion load for the .30-40 would be sweet!

I'd like to see mass production of that old WW2 round: 9mm Luger. Fun to shoot and I remember when it was plentiful.

I'd like to see a modern double-stack pistol chambered in it.

I would like to be able to shoot my dad's .32 LR rimfire again.

other than that, It would be interesting to see 9x23 go big.
