New Guy From Rochester

Postby Back In Black on Tue Feb 05, 2013 10:16 pm

Hello everyone. New guy from Rochester.

I'm a MN native, born and raised in Duluth. Been here all my life except for the 8 years I was in the Military. 3 years in Greece and 5 years in the great state of Texas. I really love MN but I've had about all I can take.

I bought a MAK-90 back in '94 before the AWB. I dusted it off last October for the first time in 12 years. My friend has a home on some acreage near Rochester and he had a B-day party/car show/gun shoot at his place. Really had a great time and the old MAK was flawless even with the old Chinese ammo I originally bought with it. There were a few AR's there and I got to try one out. I carried an M16 around every day for 3 years when I was in Greece. Last time I fired it was in 1987. Firing the AR was like being reunited with an old friend. Shortly after, I started shopping around for an AR. I wasn't in a hurry, just seeing what was out there, etc. Then you know what happened. :( By the time I got my permit to purchase, everything was gone. Still, I kept at it hoping something would show up. Long story short, I now have a Huldra and a two Korstogs. I've always liked Fleet Farm but they're my favorite store now. I really respect them for how they've handled the post SH craziness. Some other stores in the local area, not so much.

My wife and I are signed up for a mult-state permit to carry course in March. She got some hands on experience with my 9mm and did great. Looking forward to firing the new AR's and seeing how she likes that. Then more training for the both of us.

I can't help but feel like I'm late to the party here but better late than never I guess.
