Rush over?

Postby craigom on Thu Feb 07, 2013 9:55 am

Cabela's Owatonna had 4 Bushmaster Carbon 15's yesterday for $799, 2 Windham Weaponry M4's for $939, and a DPMS TEK kit with their Recon I believe for $999. Looks like things aren't flying off shelves as they were weeks ago, however as MN gets closer to a ban, that may change. Be careful as you think about jumping off the fence, prices are coming down and inventory is returning......... Gun Broker had 3000 AR's last time I checked.

I wouldn't count on it. The rush is going to keep on for a while.

I'm going out on a limb to say those rifles will all be gone by this evening.

The rush will be over if you can buy ammunition at normal prices and rifles sit on the shelf for more than a day.

I wonder if people in MN specifically are becoming hesitant to purchase AR's, since these bills wouldn't grandfather them in?

That's my plan.

But I already have an AR, and I don't have money for another one.

Bill's Hudson could make a fortune offering secure, climate controlled firearm storage to all us MN outlaws :)

Have you ever buried one for a test of condition after a year?
How did you package?
Did you put inside a large PVC tube?
If yes, were both ends capped and glued?
Or did one end have a screwed on cap?

Is it possible to find using a metal detector device?

Just curious ???????????????????? Lots of people say "Bury Them" (guns) and I'm curious if anyone has ever done so and what their results were after a year or so of Minnesota Winter, Spring, Summer, Fall seasons.
ME - I would forget where I buried them. Probably NOT a good option.

Edit: Did anyone also bury ammo with said rifle?

I think you get into some real legal considerations because they have an FFL. With firearms, possession is ownership. But maybe there's an opportunity for them...
Many years ago, Bill's had a layaway program where one could buy a gun on layaway, they kept it onsite, and allowed the purchaser to make payments, and shoot the gun at their range until it was fully paid for. All legit, because they didn't transfer the gun until it was paid for...
It may or may not be legal for a MN resident to store a firearm out of state, but it's an idea worth pursuing.

Something that has been learned in recent history is how well plastic trash bags preserve things.
As old dumps got excavated due to hazardous waste issues, it was discovered that within the plastic trash bags was mostly well preserved, un-decayed trash. The reason- lack of a supply of oxygen and moisture to allow oxidation, as well as the organic decomposition process - aka- 'rotting'.

I think a schedule 80 PVC pipe, with desiccants, and glued caps, buried below the frost line, would be good for as long as I would ever worry about it.
However, given the available technology, it would be readily detectable, if someone was searching the area with ground penetrating radar.

Pretty sure its legal. Front Sight had hundreds of AR's stored onsite in NV for CA residents when I was there years ago.

They must have an an agreement that includes a 4473 transfer to FrontSite, I speculating on this.
I don't doubt it can be done legally, but it's not a casual arrangement I'm pretty sure.
