Well think about it....why would you buy a gun when it's impossible to find the ammo for it. Buy it and you have a piece of plastic and metal of no use. I cringed every time pulled the trigger sighting in my gun.

As old dumps got excavated due to hazardous waste issues, it was discovered that within the plastic trash bags was mostly well preserved, un-decayed trash. The reason- lack of a supply of oxygen and moisture to allow oxidation, as well as the organic decomposition process - aka- 'rotting'.

I think a schedule 80 PVC pipe, with desiccants, and glued caps, buried below the frost line, would be good for as long as I would ever worry about it.
However, given the available technology, it would be readily detectable, if someone was searching the area with ground penetrating radar.

I agree that would work, if sealed well the lack of oxygen should inhibit any oxidation of the stored materials and hopefully prevent any chemical breakdown of the powder in any ammo. That said, you would just have to count on a helluva lot of digging and a ladder to get back out of the hole. Water main bury depth in Minnesota to get under the frost line is about 8 feet. :geek:

I did the very same thing yesterday and I was probably more picky than ever when it came to pulling the trigger.

Maybe people's credit cards are finally maxing out, should be a rush of 'NIB' @ half price stuff once the bills start piling up.

While I have no plans of doing this, if I was, I'd rent an auger.

One could hope. I would like to be able to cash in on some of that deal.

Not true....reason why I am holding back on purchasing some more is because of the dumb bills......If they do not pass, those firearms will be in my posession. ;)

Nothing wrong with that. Be picky because a pile of metal is pretty much worthless...unless it's gold :D

Yes... using ground based or airborne magnetometers. Best to bury next to any cast iron laterals on the property otherwise the iron range or where heavy copper deposits exist so that any sampled readings get mixed in with any naturally occurring metallic deposits where such type are present.

SO ...... all the oversized deep holes I have for fence posts, that need to be filled in with something, so I can put a steel fence post on top to confuse magnetometers, and mark locations for future reference. Any takers???

I stopped in at Cabela's in Rogers yesterday around 3:30 pm. They had 50 rd boxes of .223 still on the shelf from the morning. I also saw PMC .223 at bills in circle pines 3 weeks ago. Fleet farm in Brooklyn park had Winchester .223 this morning, but $20 for 20 rd boxes. Guy working the gun counter at FF was kind of a prick, asked him the price on a shot gun. He told me the price rudely and walked away immediately. Right after that he was talking to a customer that asked him about .223, he was stating people did not need the amount of ammo their buying and complaining about always having to stock the shelves. I was thinking of buying a Ruger LCP for my wife, I will go to Cabela's and pay a little extra.

I was @ Oakdale FF earlier this evening.
I wasn't paying real close attention, but did notice a bunch of 22 shorts, and they had some 45acp which they didn't even bother putting on the shelf- just had the opened cases on the 4-wheel cart out in front of the mostly empty magazine hooks.
