Lobbyist

Postby Freedom on Thu Feb 07, 2013 12:36 pm

Hello all. New member but long time lurker. These bills scare us all. So much so that I wanted to ask if any group such as the GOCRA has retained a professional lobbyist?

If they had that kind of money, they would.

GOCRA doesn't have that kind of power. It's more a grassroots organization dependent on volunteers.

Too bad but not the end of the world given the amount of 2A support shown at the hearings. Can a person donate to the organization?

Ditto. Should've done it before, but they can use the $$ now.

Free class goes to my BIL. I'll gladly pay Andrew the next time I need him.

I feel very comfortable with GOCRA taking the lead on this as long as us concerned citizens keep getting off our butts like we have been. (Yes, that includes the guys with the pretty wooden guns) Not quite sure what else one would expect a paid lobbyist to be able to do. No one knows 2A arguments better than some of the guys in GOCRA and Prof Olsen. (per their website, they are some of the same guys that have led the charge to pass the shall issues carry laws - twice) From my vantage, the only void to fill is advertising and that takes big $. I just can't see a significant number private companies getting involved and funding such a divisive issue, sans gun manufacturers or Fleet Farm/Cabela's types. It's just risky for business. Hope I'm proved wrong on that point but, advertising is the void I see.
