I think you can get 7rd magazines for the Marlin 795. Of course if you stick in the 10rd factory mag you've instantly got a military-type assault weapon...

The wording would seem to ban ANY semi-auto rifle that I can think of:

semi-automatic rifle that has the capacity to accept a detachable magazine and
2.31has one or more of the following:

2.32(i) a pistol grip or thumbhole stock;
2.33(ii) any feature capable of functioning as a protruding grip that can be held by the
2.34nontrigger hand;
2.35(iii) a folding or telescoping stock; or
3.1(iv) a shroud attached to the barrel, or that partially or completely encircles the
3.2barrel, allowing the bearer to hold the firearm with the nontrigger hand without being
3.3burned
,

Seems to me that any wood stock forward of the action would meet this criteria

It doesn't matter what size they pick. Today its 7, tomorrow its 4 and before you know it, it is none!

This has nothing to do with public safety and everything to do with who they answer to. Right now there is a struggle for the We the People to maintain power over our own government. Soon, we won't have any because we keep playing the part of the fool!

More we give in good faith, the lessor we will have. Damn Lobsters in the Pot!

The bill's wording still sucks but, just because I can't help myself from answering this... Remington models 8 and 81... just saying. ;)

Hey new poster here just reading about this latest travesty.

Am I under the correct assumption that my Remington 597 (factory 10round mag 22lr) would be banned under HF241?

Even if it's A-OK with a 10-rd, the detachable magazine is the evil feature for a rifle, not the capacity.

If your 597 has a pistol grip stock and a detachable 1-rd magazine, it's BANNED.

Naturally, the author fails to define what a pistol grip is. Any sporting rifle with a Monte-Carlo style stock with a palm=swell pistol grip stock could be considered an evil assault style pistol grip....it pretty much boils down to WHO is interpreting the law and how much power that individual holds over your life and property.

Hmm... AR magwell? I never bothered with a forward grip as the magwell was more comfortable to hold with my shooting style.

So, let's do like California does...no pistol grips, no detachable mags, no muzzle brake, solid stock, and no forearm...and with their wording there it could still be open to speculation. Sweet.

When they start banning the number of rounds you can carry in your gun it's time to start carrying more guns...

Its not a stretch to see this being applied to the 1911 as well.

1911's are "capable" of accepting a magazine holding more than 7rds of ammo -- they make single stack mags up to 15 rds.

Its the "capable" line that gets nearly ALL semi-auto pistols captured.
Nothing to see here. Continue swimming.
