They don't even need a drone strike...according to LAPD, thats "15 shots".
Nothing to see here. Continue swimming.

Police surveillance has been with us for quite some time and the legal concepts are quite mature. Everything from wiretaps, traffic cameras, street cams, dashcams, even POV headcams used in some places. Pretty ubiquitous. Drones as an adjunct to aerial searches is pretty innovative use of the technology and far more effective than a helicopter with FLIR or a Cessna with a pair of binoculars.

I'm referring more to if they start lobbing missiles at him. I'm ok with drones for surveillance. I'm assuming they have a warrant for it. ;-)

I agree that that would be bad, but good lord, what in the world would make you think that the police would start firing Hellfires at civilians on US soil?

Like I said, let me know when the shooting starts from these drones. Until then...how is this different than any other form of surveillance?

Sorry, misread something there. Although it wouldn't be a huge step to go from unarmed to armed drones, not that there's much we would be able to do about it anyway. No tinfoil on the head here.

Technically, I'm sure it's just a matter of loading up a couple of Hellfires. Culturally, and legally, it would be a HUGE step to go from unarmed to armed drones over the US. The implications would be staggering. I can barely imagine the public outcry and firestorm in the media. Obama has taken a roasting from MSNBC of all places over the current CIA drone policy of killing American terrorist combants in the Middle East. Violate due process over a criminal complaint and take Dorn out with a drone on US soil and there will be no place for those involved to hide.

I just don't see it.

Ummm according to NDAA they don't need a warrant for it.....If they somehow or somewhat "suspect" anything about you they can do as they please.

I agreewith Hmac, America died a long time ago!

It has to do with expectation of privacy. Where can this drone "see" that you would expect to actually be private?

I don't think they're looking in his - or your - back yard.

Perhaps with the Navy connection they should be?

I dont blame this guy. What the police have done so far to innocent bystanders is terrible. I am not one for lawsuits but i sure hope the paper delivery ladies make out well with what happened to them. They got shot the f... up and luckily no one died. Police didnt identify themselves, the truck was the wrong model, wrong color and they shot both the drivers and passengers side without identifying target, how can they shoot at the passenger side????? There was also another truck ran off the road that was not the target either. So far 0 for 2.

That million dollar bounty is probably a bargain next to the bill the lapd is racking up trying to protect themselves and hunting this guy down.
