Skoal!!

But stay alert and be ready for anything. We need to be sure there are no background checks for transfers to family members.

Now we wait for the fat lady to sing.

But if the house were to pass bans- they would go over to the senate side for a vote- would they not??

But if the Senate won't even discuss such a bill in committee......it's DOA.

However, I think this represents a huge change in momentum. A suburban Senate Democrat has refused to hear the ban/confiscation agenda at all and is only hearing background checks.

That's earthshaking.....and it's shaking Paymar's Earth.

I hope I'm wrong, but I think this is just them distracting gun rights supporters and trying to shave off a little momentum from our push against the new bills. Remember, ANY new restrictions on guns will be just one more step down the slippery slope. Give up nothing to them. Keep the pressure on.

Agreed. A firearm registry and loss of due process are just as unacceptable as a ban would be. Loss of preemption would allow individual cities to implement differing laws across the state.

If the state level bans are actually off the table, it's fantastic, but we need to keep pushing to defeat the rest of it. We shouldn't stop until every last scrap of these bills are completely destroyed, and their supporters all thrown out of office! These dip$hit politicians need to be made aware that if they come after our gun rights, that it's a career ending decision. Otherwise they'll just keep trying.

I'm more under the impression, the Senate is just going to wait for the House to send them something. Nationally, it starting to look to be a well coordinated and planned out attack on the 2nd the way it is playing out state by state. At this point all I can hope are ALL gun owners turn into one issue voters in the next couple of elections.

The gun grabbers learned they can't pull it off at the federal level, so they adapted their tactics to try and do it state by state.

We can't afford to stop now. All of the hard work that has been contributed to the cause so far will be for nothing if we let ProtectMN think they've gained something.

A "ban" woulod have to be federal anyway. And if you're a gun grabber, a state "ban" of the most popular guns in America would be subject to being found unconstitional. That would be a precedent for tother states. So, they don't really want that for Minnesota.

Beware of the "simple background check" for private transfers. There is no way to do that without documanting the seller, buy, and the guns, and having a public registry of of who owns the guns. The NICS is different, because all gun dealers are licensed. To do it a private way, they'd have to essentially license all gun owners.

Most people think a background check is simple. The devil is in the details. Go to the Capitol on Thursday and Friday. It's worth taking off work. In fact, it would be good if companies were noticable shorthanded on Thursday and Friday. If you have a company, offer some time off for employees who will work for civil rights.

It's a big deal.

Best post I've seen relating to this whole mess. Now you are speaking their (politicians') language. Mess with revenue, and they will notice.

NO.

That's our answer without compromise. No quarter given. Never surrender, keep up the pressure and the momentum because once we win this round and defeat these bills, we need to press onward and get pro-gun legislation introduced. because now is the time. We can say "Look, we as Minnesotans have defeated these bills and clearly we are pro-gun and wish to protect our 2A rights; and as such, we're introducing legislation to further protect the rights of Minnesotans to protect themselves and to further guarantee our right to bare arms." or something worded better than that, but you get the idea. I'm sure Tony Cornish would be on our side for that.

Sounds like the weapons ban, and magazine ban is off the table... for now. Never let your guard down... Keep up the good fight.

I have been hearing all along from sources connected to my senator that the ban bills will not pass. Have also been hearing that from Cornish since this all started and he repeated it again in a news story last night-- I sure hope they are right.
