I'd call it backpedaling in their case, in an attempt to regain some lost customers caused by their recent debacle.
They were the first to shut down gun sales in the wake of Newtown, and then 3x the price of what they would sell.

Whether they made a bad choice earlier or not, every company that takes a stand now is valuable to the cause. Choose not to buy from them if you dislike their prior actions but be thankful they have taken the stand...

There's an old saying in Texas or Tennessee, fool me twice.... whatever W said... and then:
