Holster for 1911

Postby damian_mb on Mon Feb 25, 2013 2:16 pm

i just aquired a 1911 this past weekend and I don't know what holster to go with as far a carrying, I prefer to have a holster to have an extra pocket for another magazine but I can't really find those around...I have these two but I am open to other options:

I like the Blackhawk version but I don't like the fact that the entire barrell is not covered.

This ones seems to be a little too cheap and not "heavy duty" enough for a 1911 due to the fact that the belt clip is small. :? Plus side is the extra mag pocket

I just aquired a Safariland duty holster this weekend for the 1911 with a thumb snap and a fancy tumb drive retention one for the glock. I will get model numbers later, but they were pretty comfortable to wear. I need to wear a wider belt for them though

Bianchi CarryLok/SnapLok, I have one of each for mine, love it... wish they'd make one for the XD-S.

I like the Italian leather Blackhwawk 3-slot pancake holster. They have them at Fleet Farm for $59.99

I have the blackhawk Sherpa holster and like it a lot. All of the holster mentioned should be good, just remember you get what you pay for. So I would stray away from the cheap one from Cabela's.

I've got a couple Galco holsters: summer comfort, king yuk, and fletch high ride. They are all great.
