Back-peddle all you want. Your original post WAS poking fun at alzheimers, as evidenced by the laughing smiley Image and making light of how people think, when affected by this disease.

Regardless of how Reagan acted in the last of his presidency, he WAS being affected by the disease. Should he have stepped down? Possibly, but we didn't know as much then as we do now about the disease.

As to the "I don't recall" statement, do you remember exactly what you were doing and where you were on September 14, 2009 at 8:17 pm? I sure as hell don't! I'll bet there are less than 1-2 people on this board that can remember that, so your arguments don't exacly hold water anyway...Ask any LEO how reliable people's memories are...

All I am trying to get across is using a fatal disease like Alzheimers to get a laugh is low-class.

I'm deadly serious about both Reagan and the Tea Party.

Both clearly had/have cognitive issues with processing information.

I do. Raid night, so World of Warcraft. Working on clearing ZG 20. I was playing a night elf hunter, and was having a horrible night on rolls.

Lost both my grandmothers to Alzheimers. Mother is convinced she is starting down that route herself.

Yeah, my mom too--most of us are headed there if we live long enough.

I'm hoping I don't.

Like I said, one or two will... :D

We just placed my Mother in Law in Memory care, and I also work in Long Term care, so maybe I'm more sensitized to the topic, but it irritates the hell out of me when people use the disease as humor. It is not funny, and never will be. It is a FATAL DISEASE!

I'm not a Tea Party member, but doesn't the liberal left preach tolerance? So painting a broad group of people as having mental health issues to make a point seems rather childish and uneducated to me. In fact, it seams like Olaf (apparently not very Saintly) is having cognitive issues of his own with understanding how his remarks affect other people!

Enough of this...I truly hope you don't have to deal with this some day when your wife or other family member cannot remember who you are or what you have meant to them. If you do, THEN you may understand.

You're right. He never should have painted Tea Party members as being crazy from Alzheimers, or brought up the Reagan thing. The Tea Party is more like this:

Already dealing with it, as I said.

I just don't get all maudlin about it......no point in going there.

We all gotta die of something......hopefully something better.

Cheer up.

It's not name-calling when it's true.

It's just honest identification.

Glad you're above that and have never resorted to name calling yourself.
