I own and enjoy shooting rifle, pistol, shotgun and muzzleloader firearms (in that order of preference) - hunting is my main application but I've really gotten into practical / service rifle style shooting after Appleseed and a CMP Service Rifle Clinic last year. Time is a huge problem (lack of it specifically) but now that my kids are getting old/mature enough to be introduced to the hobby I'm thinking smallbore/rimfire stuff will be be the majority of shooting I do when I'm not stalking fuzzy creatures in the woods and plains.

Hey Yuppiejr,
Who's Service Rifle clinic did you take? Rip Van Winkle's, or a different one? I took the one at GRRC up in Harris in 2007 and have been thoroughly hooked on Highpower ever since. Wish I would have discovered it much earlier.

As a kid I wore out 2 22Rifles. And got a hellofa flinch from a plastic stocked single shot 12 gage.
In college, 1972, I was introduced to reloading and reloaded in my dorm room 7.62X54R, until someone used my powder to burn patterns in the carpet, luckily I was home with my parents for the weekend.
After college, bought a 7mm RM and reloaded for it, and a 7.65Mauser, and a 8mm Mauser, and ........ And reloaded for all.
I shot rifle Metallic Sihlouette.
I shot 600 rounds a week on clay pigeons until I burned out - still don't shoot Trap or Skeet.
I shot IHMSA = International Handgun Metallic Sihlouette Assoc. shoots around MidWest with several handguns, shot several 40's with my Ruger Super Blackhawk 10.5", got bumped into Unlimited Class for shooting non-standard "cast bullets".
Next was FAMILY and 2 kids, taught both to shoot and reload.
In 2004 was introduced to the 50BMG, bought an AR-50 in 2005, joined FCSA in 2006, shot my first Match in 2007, missed a few shoots due to medical issues, in 2010 shot a 5-shot group under 5" at 1000 yards in Alliance Nebraska Match, in 2011 was Assistant Match Director, in 2012 was Regional Match Director for FCSA, in 2012 shot my first FCSA World Competition (did better than expected), in 2013 and into future still Regional Match Director for FCSA and have been nominated to the Board of Directors of the FCSA.
And I am an Oakdale Gun Club member, and NRA, and FCSA, and SCSA, and AMA, and others.

For the past two years, I have shot more 50BMG rounds than all other rifle rounds combined - SO SAD isn't it !!!!

I attended Rip's CMP SR Clinic at Post 435 last summer and can't reccomend it enough. If you've never done any competitive shooting (I hadn't) or any real structured instruction in military style shooting with a sling, a weekend at Appleseed learning the ropes on a rimfire rifle will give you a leg-up (and let you practice/correct newb mistakes shooting cheap .22's).

I am mostly a shotgun shooter; Sporting Clays has been my mainstay for registered competition but also shoot it for leagues. I also shoot trap and skeet leagues but no longer registered competition. I got into shotgun competition so I could shoot well enough to please my dogs. They quickly got tired of putting up birds but not having anything to retrieve.

I do rifle and pistol for fun, I try to get to the range for 200 yards or longer at least once a week through the summer. I have a small range at the house and the cabin for 22s which I use pretty regularly. I probably shoot more air rifle/bb gun than anything as it is so cheap. Most of it is with a sightless bb gun to work on my instinctive shooting.

I did a little bowling pin competition years back with the pistol but was never all that good. I took a holster class from DonL but haven't been able to make the time for a steel match or some other pistol competition. I have been trying to get to one of Rip van Winkle's rifle clinics but it has not worked out yet. The odd job hours and family commitments make it difficult to find time for some of my hobbies.

I do more reading/talking about shooting than actually shooting. I guess that makes me an anomaly around here.

I like to plink with handguns but tried USPSA for the first time last summer. I'm terrible but hooked.

Ha! Sounds like me & IDPA. If you're like me, after a few years you'll be a tiny bit less terrible but still hooked.
