Even with no new legislation expect the shortage to continue as the weather warms up, with more people wanting to go to the range and shoot.

Things might start to return to somewhat normal by next winter.
I will never apologize for being an American.

I think it depends. The FF close to me in Winona had 0 380 and 9mm (9mm has been out the last 3 times Ive been there). The Gander Mtn. near where I work had all types in ammo in every caliber I looked at.

Of course the prices were higher that what FF had been selling them for.

I've been noticing that online sales of ammo on arms/gunslist seem to be slowing down....I think we may be over the crest of this panic hopefully.

Complete rifles selling for under $1000 on GB. The one's with the Pony rollmarks are still going for $2k. What's with people around the country still paying $1500 for a new DPMS? I swear that most of the rush buyers buy only on brand recognition, and not on quality of components. I've seen low end DPMS models sell for more than high end more obscure branded rifles.

In short, hell effen NO it's not even close to being over.

Cabellas and Luckygunner won't even let you order .22LR or put it on back-order. Awhile ago I posted in another thread how the MagTech .45 I bought at .45/round is out, well, it's still out and when they did have it in, they sold it at 55.7/round. I think the scarcity of guns and ammo is far from over.

I was in Bill's in Robbinsdale on last Sunday to take my Ruger to the gunsmith and even Bill's is shy on ammo.

A friend of mine told me how he was at Fleet Farm and he said one of the workers there told him that when the last batch shipment of ammo came in and it hit the floor, it was still cold from the truck when the last box sold 30 minutes later. Every morning there's people who swoop in as soon as the doors open, they head to the ammo aisle, look to see what's there, if anything is at all, then the grab it and get out of there until tomorrow.

On that note, if anyone wants to sell .45ACP or .22LR, I'm buying :)

Now would be the time to sell if you have surplus ;)

I even sold off a bunch of my 5.56 as the prices were too tempting. saved plenty for range time for the next year plus a can of m855 for SHTF ;)

I figure if I burn through 1000 rounds in a SHTF situation and I'm still alive, there ought to be plenty of ammo to be scavenged off bodies

Yeah, 1,000 may be enough or it may not be. I know I could sell either one for a profit right now (.45ACP or .22LR), but I want to add to it and not sell it off.

12 magazines x 10 rounds each for my Ruger is 120 rounds of .22LR for a full load; and 12 magazines for the XDm .45ACP x 13 rounds is 156 + 1 in the chamber for 157 total, is quite a bit. 1,000 rounds for each gun is 6 full loads for the XDm and 8 full loads for the Ruger, with some extra rounds left over for each. That's not enough ammo in my mind.

Not sure on the pricing on this, at Cabela's in Rogers, they had a bushmaster ar15 for $1,599. Sounds overpriced to me at least, considering what I paid for a Stag 3G last summer before that horrible boating accident.

Not much for ammo there at Element Arms in Becker this evening. Rifles were bleak too. My first trip there. Great selection of furniture and accessories and a great bunch guys in that store! Sure to return there. Passed on the Ar 15-22 only to save for an out of this world trijicon- hope I can find one when I got the $

I ordered 5,250 rounds of .22LR on 017/13 from Cabella's and today on 03/06/13, almost 2 months later to the date, it's still on back-order. Good thing I have plenty on-hand already. My 6 Magazines for the Ruger Mark III 2245 are also still on back-order from Brownell's and were ordered on the same date. Effen A man.

Palmetto and Midway have offered 30 round AR mags for less than $20 shipped which have remained in stock for the last couple of days... There's a brand new S&W AR carbine listed in the FS area for $1000 that hasn't sold (yet)... availability of most handgun calibers has improved significantly (all the biggies in stock at Palmetto right now, saw 9mm/40 and .45 on the shelf in bulk packs at Gander less than a week ago)... Really it's just the .22 LR and .223/5.56 supply that seems to be in real "panic" mode still, the rest is just limited quantities but available.

If anyone's holding out to liquidate while prices are high best get on your horse - I think the run on ammo is about a month from settling down.

I hope you're right.

I'm here to take any decent .45ACP and .22LR off the hands of people who may be hoarding it :)
