mecra wrote:Wow, you are even more an ass than I originally thought. I didn't buy your ammo and you resort to personal attacks against me??? 800 rounds isn't "selective hoarding" as some people will shoot that in a weekend. I didn't want your ammo because I didn't want to waste money buying a grain that I'm not going to primarily shoot, and I wasn't going to "hoard" it from someone else who may have wanted it. Please, it sounds like you need to get out more because you have an incredible lack of understanding of people and their motives. All the more reason to avoid your, "deals" in the future. You sounded suspicious before and you've confirmed it more now.

and just to clarify, you said you could sell me two packs of rounds, not 3300 rounds. That's 600 rounds, if you could do math. 800 rounds isn't an enormous stash and I told you that when I emailed you. ANd I don't have friends in "stores" you moron. I have friends outside of "stores". Man, I need to stop writing as you aren't even worth the waste of internet space.

Honestly, if you have 500 rounds of ammo and it takes more than 2-5 to zero your rifle you are probably better off investing in some training at this point. I remember the practice of blasting through boxes of ammo to zero.. now I put a shot on paper at 25 yards, adjust - shoot again to confirm the adjustment and then move out to 100 yards and verify again.... it's really pretty easy once you get the hang of it but without some training in the proper techniques the cost to re-zero can add up pretty fast over time.

I think Oldman gave you some valid advice... there was no personal insult there unless you ego is so fragile you cannot accept a perfectly valid perspective from someone with a lot more wisdom and life experience than you. All he suggested was that you consider looking at 55 grain ammo (which seems to be more widely available), selling-trading your 62 grain and re-zeroing your rifle to match since you're going down that road anyway and having problems finding 62-grain. Don't complain about lack of supply when you've boxed yourself into a corner with arbitrarily difficult to fill requirements on what kind of ammo you want.

Yep, good luck with your online orders. The 3-4 places I checked are all out of damn near every popular caliber and back orders are not being allowed at this time. So, I couldn't order online if I wanted to.

Seriously XDM45, I've heard you mention probably 10 times in the past month that you by ammo online. WHERE?!?!? There's none available. I've had MUCH better luck finding ammo in a store than I have on any website the past few weeks. I call B.S. :D

Yea, a year ago I could order what I needed online. Times have changed.

One website had a back order all the way to August!

Local seems to be the way to go unless there are lesser known websites that have some ammo.

Since I only shoot .22LR and .45ACP right now, those are the ones I was talking about, thus those are the ones I searched for.

.22LR http://www.cheaperthandirt.com/product/AMM-0552
.45ACP http://www.luckygunner.com/45-acp-230-g ... d=AmmoSeek

Feel free to buy quantities online. They are available.

:)

Like I said, buy it online.

It's all over if you want to pay the price. 22 is the hardest to find still. And for me, available and triple what I want to pay doesn't make a good combo. I'll ration before I spend some of the prices I see. While I can see paying extra for 22 for a while, I'd rather not forever or it loses some of it's benefit.

See my post above this one. Just posted some links. I found the ammo via ammoseek.com

Luckygunner site still had Speer Lawman .45 range ammo at $30 a box of 50. At that price, I can see why they still have some. I like Speer Lawman ammo...good stuff...but not at $30 a box when I picked some up last summer for $18.99 a box.

I bought my ammo online back in January. I got the .45ACP pretty quickly from luckygunner.com and the Cabella's .22LR has been on back-order since the date I ordered it, 01/07/2013. Admitted it, it IS harder to find it online now than even a month or two ago, agreed.... however it IS out there to be had. It's not easy to find, it's not cheap, but it IS out there to be had.

During the pre-panic time I also stocked up so I didn't have to worry. That's why I'm not stressing the 5,250 .22LR on back-order, because I had 4-5x in my inventory already. For the .45ACP, I had 1,500 rounds on-hand as well when I ordered 2,000 more. It's called pre-planning. That's why I'm not panicking. Don't let yourself ever get that low.

I did the search and bought some ammo. Let's see how it goes. If well, then I'll keep using that site. I haven't seen that website before so that's a good find.

ammoseek.com is a great way to grab aggregate information; I just wish it would show current stock levels as well, but that would require hooking into an API on each website. Some sites don't do real-time inventory like luckygunner.com does. Personally, I think that's the only way to go (live inventory).

I have not had much luck online either. That being said, I did make a lucky score yesterday. Went to UnderwoodAmmo, and to my surprise they had my favorite 45ACP +P ammo in stock...about 20 boxes worth. I bought 3. Thjis morning they were out of stock. lol

Shooting has become a rich man's sport. You need lots of cash and time to search and acquire materials and even more to use them. A short afternoon at Bullseye in N. Branch ran into hundreds. It's the backdoor way of reducing gun ownership--making it too dam costly and time-consuming. Anybody else given up on trying to buy used guns these days?

Like where? That .45 ammo is WAY over priced and the .22 ammo CTD has been selling is also at gougers prices. You may have done well online in January....but now it's usually gone or priced high enough to be in stock.
