Hunting for 9mm

Postby frontwoods on Thu Mar 14, 2013 10:14 am

I'm sorry to do this, but I'm taking my PTC course on Tuesday and was hoping to get some practice in tomorrow. Anyone know where I can find some 9mm in the west metro? I've been calling around, and no one has it in stock. Do the stores just tell everyone that they don't have stock, even if they do? I haven't been paying very close attention, but I didn't realize the ammo shortage/hoarding was so bad. I'm just looking for around 150 rounds for practice and the range test (need to bring 50 for the course). Does anyone have any ammo they would sell for a reasonable price? I can always buy at the range, but would rather not spend $19/box.

Again, my apologies for groveling and late hunting.

Thanks,
Rob

I live in St Louis Park, so was going to head to Bill's in Robbinsdale. That's where the range test will be too.

If you are only looking for 150 rounds and know where it's in stock for $19/box, then that's not a bad deal for you if you value your time at all...

I'd take more than 150 rounds if I could find them at a good price. You have a good point about the value of time/gas.

BIll's has it in stock every time I've been there. Not sure what the price or limits are as I've never asked but .36-.38 a round seems typical these days. Every now and then you can score bulk packs from places like Walmart or FF that bring the price down to the .24 cent range but that's rare.

This. I'd just get the barebones for now.

Then worry about resupply later on. You simply won't find 9mm in the metro area at all, unless you happen to arrive at the store and be next to the shelf right when they get the next shipment in. It's gone in less than half an hour.

Thanks for the responses, everyone. I appreciate the insight. I'll just hang my head, ride out the ammo frenzy, and buy from the range. ;)

I guess I need to be a little better about planning ahead, at least that's what my wife says.
