Anyone see the new savage tactical bolt action .22lr? Accutrigger, big bolt knob, threaded barrel, scope rail.

Went there at 9 AM this morning with a coworker to help him find a decent Remington 742 or 7400 and no, that is not an oxymoron. We started around the concourse and wouldn't you know, about a third of the way around there was a 742, that as far as my lights and magnifying visor could tell, was in mint condition for $395. Told my coworker that my gut instinct was to grab it before some else did because he wouldn't fine one in better condition. He did and while waiting for the NICS check we wandered around the entire concourse. There were some reasonable deals in the back racks and I saw 30rd Stainless Steel 5.56 mags for as little as $15.00. At the more "TactiCool" stands, they were double that or more. Neither of us wanted to endure what looked like a mosh pit down on the main floor, so we avoided that sea of humanity. We made a full pass around the concourse, picked up his rifle and left. I did look unsuccessfully for Burris Signature Zee rings but that was about it. I always pick another set up if I see them for cheap. Love 'em and my scope finishes do also. Saw a couple members from my local club and a few other coworkers. Was back home in time for lunch. Saw a beautiful .308 Bench Rest rifle that made my mouth water for a moment.

I'm good for ammo till July....I would go out on a limb and say regardless of how nice the weather might be....this show will have (comparably) record low attendance. (but what do I know...I'm speculating)

Saturday's attendance - Over 6000 - a possible record high

Cool...BTW...could you get a 'feel' for the crowd...did it appear that there were a lot of 'newcomers' couples buying a pistol for the home, Fathers buying for kids....did you think that some were thinking 'Last chance to get an AR-rifle' ?

Lots of people shocked that .22 L.R. was hard to find and not $10 a brick anymore, same with primers ($45.00-$70.00 per 1K), brass, bullets, well you know the drill.

I saw 100 round boxes of CCI for $18.00 and one box (all the guy had) of Federal 525 Bulk (Red Box) for $45.00. .22LR was very rare there indeed.

From what I saw, people weren't spending like they normally would. A lot of lookers, saw some purchasing and trading going on, there was tons of people too, but it wasn't a madhouse where people were running from table to table yelling ".223??!!" or anything like that. I was there on Saturday from 8am-12pm.

Same here.
We sold quite a bit considering what little handguns we had to sell.
There were lots of people, and more late in the day Saturday than I've ever seen there, but when I really watched
there were many, many people with nothing in their hands.

I confess, I don't hit a lot of shows lately, but how long has the uptick in folks toting their wares for sale on their backs been going on? Looked like some futuristic dystopian Valley Forge around there, or casting call for an episode of Fallen Skies ;)
