SF458 dead in committee!

Postby jshuberg on Wed Mar 20, 2013 1:31 pm

I just spoke to the assistant for Sen. LeRoy A. Stumpf. SF458 (Sen. Latz omnibus firearms bill) was pulled from the schedule this morning, and the Rules Committee won't meet again before the Friday deadline :) While it's possible it could still come back again, the fact it was pulled from the schedule is a great sign that they simply don't want to deal with it, and that it's dead in committee.

Without a companion bill in the Senate, anything that Paymar tries to tack onto HF1325 won't matter, it can't be passed into law! There may be some weaselly things they can still try to pull off, but their options are becoming fewer and fewer!

Keep your fingers crossed, things are looking very good these last couple days :)

That's awesome. I'd like to think that all those e-mails, letters and phone calls had something to do with it. What does this mean for future action - will they try to sneak something into another bill?

Now that we appear to be on a roll, when can they vote on silencers? :D

Gun control is a sinking ship and politicians are jostling each other in a frenzied attempt to get to the lifeboats.

I sense a degree of panic.

This is good.

Kudos/thanks to all the folks (GOCRA leadership, those of you attending the hearings, etc..) who have taken the time to get involved and represent on behalf of all gun owners.

Everyone who has not been directly involved has at least signed up at the $30 level with GOCRA to help refresh their coffers for the continuing battle... right? Cheaper than a brick of .22 these days... ;)

I agree. GOCRA has been our secret weapon, and it' still not over.

I had the senate hearings stream-cast open in a window on my computer and Latz's bill was listed as last for hearing...they didn't get to it.

He's such a thin-skinned-panty-waist that I would have love to see the petulant expression on his face as his bill got steamrolled.
