Police Departments Beg And Barter For Ammo While DHS Buys Up

Two things about that report......DHS uses up to 15 million rounds in training a year, well...they're buying 100 YEARS worth of ammo NOW! Really? Is this necessary? 10 years would be sufficient. Nothing like spending OUR money for 100 years worth of ammo but closing down White House tours, lesser used airport towers, and schools in Chicago because of the sequester. BS! Also, why do the handgun rounds in the video photo have holes in the primers?

The Gear Scout blog run by Military Times had a good write up on this story and how it was overblown. Once you actually crunch the numbers, you'd say they should be buying *more* in order to do their jobs more effectively.

Also remember that the Coast Guard falls under DHS.

DHS spokesman Peter Boogaard noted that the contract would be used by all DHS agencies except the Coast Guard.
