I don't know how old any of you guys are, but I still have a brick of wildat with an old-fashioned price tag sticker on it. The price is $13.99, and it was purchased at Target. Yes, Target. That's from the mid 70's. Think about that price and the time frame. That's significantly more expensive than .22 ammo was at Walmart when I started shooting (a lot) in about 2002/2003. At that time I was paying $9.97 for a 550 pack of Federal. When that ammo purchase was made at Target, I also remember my father making the mistake of saying it was for a handgun. He had to fill out a form to get it.

I'm not convinced that this is a panic. It's something more nefarious.

I bet if the Internet was shut down for a couple months there would be ammo on the shelves. :D

One thing I read here or on AR15.com regarding wal-mart. Pickup the phone at the gun counter, hit '0' and you should be able to get someone there without waiting 15 minutes :)

Hang on, let me login on a-root and work my way through the rest of the root servers. I'll shut down the daemon for DNS on each one, starting with BIND on a-root ;)

Coworker just told me he was in Duluth over the weekend, and Gander Mountain was asking $25 for a box of 50 .22LR. :o

My 3000 round 7.62x39 order that I placed in Jan (was supposed to ship Feb 20th) was pushed to 5/15 and now to 10/29. When it ships the panic will be officially over

Right or Wrong?

With Spring and Summer coming we will see an increase in gun and ammo sales?

I say we will, then it will SLOWLY taper off into next winter. I hope I'm wrong. :?

I don't see how it can increase with demand outstripping supply. Things will only return to normal when supply meets or surpasses demand.

I have been watching gunbot.net for 45ACP ammo. FreedomMunitions had 2 different types of 500 pack bulk ammo go up for sale right around noon. Prices were right around .40 per round. They had 50 of EACH in stock. Both were cleaned out in just over 60 minutes. Thats 50,000 rounds total. I don't think the panic is over, at least for the reasonably priced ammo.

I was in the Faribault Walmark Saturday morning. Took a walk over to sporting goods. Two 100rd boxes and one 50rd box of WWB .45s, but I didn't need them so I left them. Then I noticed the stocking cart near by. Shotgun shells on the bottom and there on the top, a cardboard box that said 9mm Luger on the side. :o Took a look inside.........golf tees.

Rochester's cabinet is completely empty. Only shot shells remain.

Fleet Farm in Oakdale got a bunch of Winchester white box ammo this morning. Had 9mm, 45 acp, and .223. The 9mm was gone in a couple hours. There was a ton of 55gn .223 at about 3 pm. $10/box of 20. the .45 acp was $49 for a 100 box.

I was going to stop on my way home but decided nope..the shelves will be bare just like the last 10 times I stopped.

I could have had ammo to shoot.

At those prices, I'm happy to leave the ammo on the shelf.

BUY SHOTSHELLS, now before the crunch hits them.

Besides Uncle Joe says that's all anyone needs, especially the Ladies.
