Pistol stuff, bulk/plinking rifle ammo and .50 BMG all get loaded in the garage.

You dawg. I didn't know you have a Prometheus.

Yep. The eerie green glow alone is worth the price of admission.

Ok, for this Noob, What is a Prometheus? I see it, but haven't a clue as to what it does?

Thanks for sharing.

It's a semi-automatic powder drop/scale combo. If you want consistent, accurate(to a single kernel of powder) charges and are willing to spend a bit, it will save you more time than you can imagine. I think it's the best investment I've made in reloading gear.

Also, it runs on magic. I took the side panel off once and could see all of the elves and fairies inside working the gears and grinding away on their little treadmills....

It is a very accurate and expensive powder measuring device.

I will never apologize for being an American.

Expensive in this case equals insanely expensive. The escalation in equipment and dollars is really what pushed me away from benchrest shooting. Someday when I'm too old to run I might be interested in $1000 scales, $1000 co-ax rests and so on. Till then I'll stick with 3-gun with a side order of 300 yard F-class.

No Benchrest here either. I shoot NRA Highpower OTC and Mid-Range/Long Range prone. Single kernel accuracy is not really necessary inside of 600 yards, but as fast as the machine is, theres no reason to load any ammo to lower standards. Out at 1k everything matters. If you are capable of shooting to your rifle's potential, little things like off charges cost points.

The cost is really a matter of perspective. People spend lots of money on their cabin, boat, motorcycle, race car, golf, etc - I spend my money on this. I plan to make more money in my lifetime, but I won't get any more time. Switching to the Prometheus is like creating new time.

Wow, you are really finding stuff in my picture - it's like a "Where's Waldo" book for you! Can you spot my "Jamaica" keychain? ;-)

I don't know what a Jamaica key chain looks like, but seeing as we've totally derailed this thread, what is that green thing with the number 7 on it?

That's a medallion from a 7k race I ran in last year on St. Patrick's Day.

The orange thing behind it is my "Pre-Convention" credentials from the 2008 Republican National Convention.

The house I'll be moving into next month has a detached 3 season porch. it's completely detached from the house, has electric in it, but doesn't have AC or heat. I'm planning on making it my reloading room/workshop since my wife has "no interest in ever being out there". I figure I can throw an electic heater in there and it'll be fine for me, but I'm wondering if you guys think it will get too humid in there since there's no AC?

How's about a dehumidifier or maybe even one of those portable A/C units? I would set up the reloading room first. Let me say that again: SET UP THE RELOADING ROOM FIRST, and THEN make the room habitable for the Minnesota climate. If I made my space even remotely comfortable for non-basement dwellers prior to moving a ton of stuff down there, that space would have been reallocated for familial use. 2 cents in.

Thanks for the response. I was thinking about a dehumidifier/portable ac /heater. Good idea on getting it set up first.

Dehumidifier is key in MN. Your dies will rust if you don't.
