IF the weather holds out on Saturday, I'm going shooting at the Minnesota Horse and hunt club. I have an Aimpoint PRO mounted on my Sig M400 and a Vortex SPARC mounted on my AK47. If you're interested you could meet me there and try them out. I need to zero the Aimpoint because I was an idiot and changed the elevation when I was at Bills the last time, so it'll be an experimenting kinda day anyway. Let me know if you're interested.

I've got an Eotech EXPS on my AR if you'd like to try it out some time.

Thanks! PM sent.
You don't know me, son, so let me explain this to you once: If I ever kill you, you'll be awake, you'll be facing me, and you'll be armed.

If you go with a battery powered optic, one thing to consider is the type of battery. The various optical offerings come with a bevy of battery types. The Aimpoints offer insane battery life. But the batteries are very, very expensive and not commonly found around town. Many optics from Eotech, Burris and the like take camera type batteries, which are much cheaper and a little easier to find.

For arguments sake, let's say the SHTF and you are on year five of your battery life with your Aimpoint and wouldn't you know it. The one you ordered never arrived due to the *******. So you creep down to your local pharmacy under the cover of darkness and break in only to find out they have no batteries in sight only gigantic rubber balls and tons of knock-off perfume. So now your Aimpoint is on borrowed time and your Eotech that takes camera batteries is also. That is of course, unless you have the Eotech 512 or similar model that accepts AA batteries. Which if your stock is empty you could always go to your neighbors house, you know the one, who had that Obama sign out is his yard. Kick his door in and watch him cower in the corner whilst mumbling about how, "you can't do this" and "you can't do that." While you ravage his pantry and take whatever you want including his AA batteries, be careful though his wife may try and 'join' your group by offering any number of services.

The problem there is that we all know there is really only one thing worse than having a wife during doomsday, and that is having more than one wife. Double the nagging, double the periods, double the headaches, double the gossip, double the, well you get the idea. Being a responsible gun owner you probably have your wife trained pretty well in all areas of life. You don't want to start over especially with a liberals wife who is probably at least a borderline feminist. Not the kind of inspiring personality you want to face the world with. You'd have to listen to her endless tirades about how women can do anything men can and probably better, while she hides behind your young son when adversity strikes.

AA batteries can be found in every household, every gas station, grocery store, walmart, target, fleet farm, office, school and basically everywhere, you might be better off checking there first, if she is a very hot liberal, you are in fact a man, you may get seduced again, and that is not something you need during a doomsday scenario. You know what, maybe just go with a fixed power scope and skip the whole battery mess. What is wrong with me?

Lithium batteries store for a long, long time, so a few extra CR123's, as used in the Eotech XPS and EXPS line as well as most high-quality lights, stored in your rifle stock or grip with get you through most of the zombie apocalypse. Likewise, an extra lithium Aimpoint battery sitting around isn't a bad idea.

IOW, if you are prepping for SHTF EOTWAKI ZA, lithium batteries for all of your important electronics ought to be fairly high up on your list of prepper supplies.

As to wives, I actually like mine.
